Are You Holding Your Team Back?

Are you holding your team back from being better?

Quite the question to be asked on a Monday morning.

However, it's important that we talk about this.

I believe that (most) leaders have good intentions and want their teams to thrive. Not only because it makes good business sense but also because it feels good to see people living up to their full potential.

However, I have seen this year that many leaders unintentionally hold their teams back from improving.

How does this happen?

Here's a quick high-level summary:

  1. Leaders do not prioritise team development & growth.
  2. They think that personal development is team development. It's not.
  3. They don't create a space for team transformation.
  4. They only focus on the task of the team and not the team itself.
  5. They think the occasional team build is enough to maximise team performance.
  6. They don't have the time to work on team improvement.
  7. But most worrying of all. They do not have a PLAN for team development.

Slow down for a moment and let that last point just linger a little longer.

How can we expect team improvement without a plan for team improvement?

The good news is that you don't have to figure this out all on your own.
