Are You a High Earner Who Spends Too Much? Here's How to Fix It and Finally Achieve Financial Freedom

Your high income gives the appearance, but not the security, of affluence.

Wouldn't it be nice to have the confidence that comes with knowing you don't have to worry about money? Financial freedom is the ability to live your life without worrying about money. It means being able to cover your basic expenses, having enough left over to save for retirement, and having the flexibility to spend your free time the way you want.

What is one thing you can accomplish in the next day to help you achieve financial freedom?

To put it another way,?concentrate your attention on what you can control?and let go of what you can't. You are always free to change your mind. A change of mind leads to a change in life.

To achieve full financial freedom, you must be willing to take risks, face your fears, let go of judgments and criticism, and?give up your harmful beliefs.

What Beliefs Do You Have About Money?

  • I can’t change my financial future
  • I’m not good with money
  • Money will make me happy
  • I don’t deserve a lot of money
  • I need money to make money
  • Managing my money is too much stress
  • I can’t save money
  • Money is meant for spending

Everyone believes something about money.?It can be negative, positive, or a mix of both. If you think any of the above toxic beliefs apply to you,?it's time to undergo a money mind shift.

Beliefs influence actions, which influence the outcomes you achieve with your money.?Your behavior, everything you do, and all the choices you make?are controlled by your brain.

Awareness is the key to changing any belief, including those around money. If you want to change your financial situation, you need to become aware of your thoughts and feelings around it. Here are eight steps for shifting your money mindset:

  1. Start by monitoring your money-related thoughts for a week. Keep a journal and write it down every time you think about money. Notice what kinds of emotions come up for you. Are they positive or negative? Do you feel scarcity or abundance?
  2. After a week, review your journal entries and look for patterns. What do your money thoughts reveal about your beliefs? Are they serving you or holding you back? For example, let’s say you notice that you have a lot of negative thoughts about money. You might believe that money is scarce and you'll never have enough. This belief can lead to feelings of anxiety and insecurity. In turn, you might avoid talking about money, budgeting, or making financial decisions.
  3. Challenge your negative thoughts and beliefs. Why do you believe them? Are they true? If not, what would be a more empowering way to think about money?
  4. Choose one or two new beliefs to focus on. For example, “I am good with money” or “I deserve to be financially free.”
  5. Write down your new beliefs and read them aloud every day.
  6. Visualize yourself achieving financial freedom. What does it look like? How does it feel? What would you do with your time and money if you didn't have to worry about them?
  7. Take small, consistent steps toward your goal. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. And each step gets you closer to your destination.
  8. Practice gratitude for the abundance you already have in your life. Shift your focus from what you don't have to what you do have.

When you change your thinking about money, you'll take new and different actions. And it is this new course of action that generates new outcomes. If you want financial freedom, it starts with changing how you think about money.

Of course, the real magic happens when you apply these steps.
