How many times have you heard praise for your gifts, only to brush it off as luck or coincidence?
How often have you downplayed your abilities, thinking you're not good enough or need more training?
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.
When I refer to a gift, I mean a natural talent or ability.
It's something that comes easy to you but may not be as easy for others.
Imposter Syndrome???
Imposter syndrome is a silent enemy that affects many of us, regardless of our position or accomplishments.
It's that nagging voice that tells us we're not worthy, that we don't deserve recognition, that we'll never be as good as others.
Yesterday, I attended a masterclass hosted by Kingston University about imposter syndrome. It reminded me that we are kind to others and often neglect kindness when it comes to ourselves.
As a coach, I've seen imposter syndrome demolish the confidence of students and senior leaders alike.
I've even struggled with it throughout my career.
The thought of sharing on LinkedIn used to fill me with dread!
Now, I regularly meet people who know me from my LinkedIn posts.
They share how much they appreciate my content, even though we've never engaged before.
Imagine if I never started posting because I didn't think my content would be good enough. You would not be reading this right now!
If someone looks "successful" on the outside, there is often a private journey of tears, frustration, and self-doubt.
Think about the people you admire.
What are their unique gifts?
Maybe it's the way they effortlessly connect with others, their ability to inspire through storytelling, or their knack for problem-solving.
These gifts aren't just for show; they're meant to be shared with the world.
Are you hiding your gifts? ??
Think about someone who is quiet and reserved, yet finds they have a gift for writing poetry. They keep their poems to themselves for a long time, unsure if they're any good.
But when they finally decide to share their work, it touches people deeply and makes a real impact.
Consider another example: a software engineer who has always loved teaching.
Despite being highly skilled technically, he questioned whether he could explain things well.?
However, when he began leading coding workshops for beginners, he discovered his gift for making difficult concepts easy to understand.
Comparison ??
Social media is the highlight reel of people's life.
We usually never see the lowlights.
We often fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, believing they're better, more talented, more deserving.?
But what we fail to see is the internal work they've done to overcome their own insecurities.

Being bold means embracing who you are, trusting in your capabilities, and having the confidence to share your gifts with the world.?
It's not about trying to be someone else; it's about owning your uniqueness and using it to make a difference.
Think about it, if you are always trying to be someone else, then who is going to be you?
So, I invite you to ask yourself: Am I hiding my gifts? ??
Consider this: not sharing your gifts could mean missed opportunities for promotions and career growth.
Additionally, if others don't know about your business or expertise, they may not seek your services or collaborate with you.
If you are struggling with imposter syndrome, here are 3 ways to help:
1. Acknowledge Your Achievements: Take stock of your accomplishments, big and small. Write them down and remind yourself of your successes when self-doubt creeps in. ??
2. Challenge Negative Thoughts: When that inner critic starts whispering doubts, challenge those thoughts with evidence of your capabilities and past successes. ??
3. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, especially when facing setbacks or failures. ??
Remember that everyone makes mistakes, and they’re opportunities for growth.
Let's commit to embracing our gifts, stepping into our power, and inspiring others to do the same.
Have you ever encountered imposter syndrome in your career journey?
How did you overcome it, or what strategies do you use to manage it?
Own your brilliance, dare to be bold, and unwrap your gifts.
Stay bold and keep shining!
BOLDly yours
