You heard this from SOMEBODY already! EVERYBODY wants this, but NOBODY knows that SOMEBODY.
I couldn't resist my temptation to post this after I heard from other parents of a hobby class. Yes, obviously very proud of my son (though I cant take all the credit, his mother gets a major portion!
While dropping my kid on early morning on weekend at a hobby class, I asked him if he could organize slippers, his response was EVERYBODY should do and he is smallest of the lot (read as Junior most!). To my surprise, he said he will do and and did! The students who came later have kept the slippers in line and Trainer was surprised and asked who did. My son told the trainer that EVERYBODY is just leaving the slippers randomly, he only arranged a few and he doesn't know who arranged the rest. This photo was taken separately, I wish I had taken the original photo, I missed the original but the photo is a representation!
Very simple lesson which you know and listened - EVERYBODY thinks SOMEBODY will do that but NOBODY knows who is that SOMEBODY. Once SOMEBODY starts that EVERYBODY will chip in. ANYBODY can be that SOMEBODY. Can you be that SOMEBODY? With your small act, will your organization be a better place with your actions? If answer is Yes, just jump. You can be a junior, senior, anyone.. doesn't really matter.

But, How to start something? If it goes wrong? Do I have the authority? There is no clarity of on my role? we can find 1000 excuses not to start. Here I want to quote one chat from my friend when I was worried that I am doing too many mistakes, he said - If you are doing only mistakes you should be concerned and needs training for those tasks, but if you are doing so many things and some of them are mistakes, you will be a future leader. Just look from statistical relevance, If mistakes are negligible when compared with the total number of tasks, you are on right path. Just continue, SOMEBODY will take a note!

2 年Nicely written Visu. A warning though, as your son grows up to be that 'somebody' and tries to change certain things, vested interests will not be receptive to it and they will try to bring him down. Please empower him emotionally as all good deeds in life are not always appreciated.
