Are You Having a Red Cup Day?

Are You Having a Red Cup Day?

A friend told this story in our Bible study last week.

He said, “My son had behavioral problems when he began attending school. He was only seven at the time.”

His teacher devised a visual feedback method for him that was simple but brilliant.

At the end of each day, he would receive one of three cups.

A green cup meant he was well-behaved all day.

A yellow cup indicated that he had his challenges.

A red cup said it was not a good day for him or anyone around him.

One day, he came home, and he wasn't happy. His mother asked him what was wrong.

The son said, “I got a red cup today.”

She asked, “Why?”

He confessed, “I just ran out of good.”

We all have “red cup” days.?

We all have days like that—days when we just run out of good. And so do the people around us. When we see those we care about struggling, we need to remember that maybe, like my friend’s son, they just ran out of good for the day. It helps to offer them a little grace.
