-NYISO DAM for Zone A, B, and C for December up significantly (40%) from November
-The utility rates however aren’t correlating with the NYISO prices as they’re down slightly compared to last month
-The increase in NYISO prices could be resulting from the higher natural gas prices as NG is a main generator of power
NYMEX January continues to climb
The NYMEX January natural gas futures contract continued on an
upward trajectory in US overnight trading, climbing 3.6 cents.
The contract was seen changing hands at $3.690/MMBtu at 7:05
am EST (1205 GMT) Tuesday, compared with its previous settlement of
$3.654/MMBtu.
The latest 8-to-14-day outlook from the US National Weather
Service shows a ballooning colder-than-average front covering the
Northeastern US, with a smaller warmer-than-average area embracing
the Southwest.
The forecast colder weather in the latter half of December has
boosted demand forecasts, with Platts Analytics’ Bentek Energy
putting daily US gas demand in the next 8-14 days at 116.7 Bcf/d,
compared with 93.9 Bcf Tuesday.
Dry gas production is set to increase from 70.3 Bcf/d up to 71.3
Bcf/d in the same time period, Platts Analytics data show.
