One of the latest projects we worked on at?Expando?is proof that every?business,?organization, or?PME?that owns a website should have someone who knows the basics of SEO, especially when working with a tight budget. When money is not an issue, you can hire someone to take care of your SEO or correct any errors that arise, but with a tight budget, knowing the basics can help you save time, money, and stress.?It might sound strange, but stick until the end of this post to hear the story!

Why SEO trainings?

I always recommend that every business with a website should have someone who knows the?basics of SEO. When the budget is tight, it may not be possible to hire someone for this task, and as a result, you might cut the budget related to things you feel are unnecessary, like Search Engine Optimization. However, by knowing even a little about the domain, you can:

1. Do some tasks on a daily or monthly basis, such as blogging correctly.
2. Ask for a backlink when doing business with a client or another business.
3. Keep an eye on your competitors.
4. Check which pages are on the web and which lead to more traffic and generate leads.
5. You will be more capable of seeking help when needed.

Yes, when talking about SEO or Search Engine Optimization, you might think of lines of coding, but that's not all there is to it. With the updates happening in search engine algorithms, the game is becoming more and more human, and anyone can participate, regardless of their background.

A Case Study:

In some cases, by knowing SEO basics you can prevent real catastrophes from occurring, such as the case in which a client contacted me because they had some important secret pages on their WordPress site that they had chosen to?no-index?while creating them. For years, these pages did not appear in?Google, which is good, but suddenly, they were shocked to find that these secret pages were indexed and displayed by other search engines like?Bing,?Yahoo!,?Qwant,?DuckDuckGo, and?Ecosia! Their confidential information had spread across these search engines.

We're talking about nearly 1500 pages that were created over several years! If someone in the business had tried the?site:nameofsite?search in these search engines before, they would never have reached this stage!

Our work at Expando is usually to rank your website high in search engines and fix errors if some of your pages don't show up in search engines. This time, however, we were asked to do the opposite and remove the pages that were showing up in these search engines as quickly as possible.

We did just that, and we treated it as an urgent mission to help the business find peace again. But I won't tell you the amount of stress and fear they (and we) experienced until the problem was solved!

In this case study, I'm even more sure that every business, PME, or organization with a website should have someone who knows about SEO in the team.
