You have to understand who you are before you can master it.

Have you ever been asked what your "Why" is? It is a question that is being asked more and more, and I believe that understanding and developing the answer is one of the key fundamentals to personal growth.

There is one main issue with this, have you ever been taught how to define your why? Probably not so how do you start?

Everything should start with a Purpose. Take a moment to ask yourself these 3 key questions, and write the answers down:

• What fulfills you?
• What gives you the most satisfaction?
• What motivates you?

Next, think about your last year or so and write down the answers to these questions:

• What have you enjoyed the most?
• What have you enjoyed the least?

Now for the big question: If money was no object and you knew you couldn't fail, what would you try?

My process for developing personal growth involves 3 steps, and they are:

• Purpose
• Vision
• Strategy

Your purpose is your why. Once you have established this (and it isn't easy) you can define a vision - a dream for the future that will fulfill your hopes and desires. Understanding these two principals will not guarantee success unless you add the third step and plan a strategy that will get you what you want.

Too many of us stumble through life not knowing what we are looking for, what motivates us, what gives us satisfaction, and therefore we have no plan.
