You Have the Power to Create a Better World by Making Good Trouble

We recently lost a legend in the fight for justice. Congressman John Lewis was knocked down, both literally and figuratively, and kept getting up to work hard every day for what’s right. He did it with the grace, dignity, and the perseverance of a true leader. While he didn’t always agree with his colleagues, he did not stoop to marginalizing others or calling them names. His goal was to see how both friends and adversaries could work together to make a difference. His words were so powerful that they were the most appropriate way to honor him as he lay in state in the capitol.

We now have three months until we vote for our senators, congresspeople, and president. So, it’s time to take a page from the Lewis playbook and take action. Ensure that you have an absentee ballot to make your voice count. If you have the means, donate to candidates who stand for justice and make calls for them. Find those elected officials who lie, who care more about corporations than they do about you, who vote time and again against your interests and work for opponents who will fight for you.

It's time to make a difference because you have much more power than you think. Use it to cause some "good trouble.”
