Are you the Hardest-working, Last-to-be-paid person in your own business?

I’d?guess the reason you went into your own business was to make more money, have more time and be a master of your own destiny. The hard reality for most business owners though, is that they do not earn a market related salary (would you work for someone else for what you earn from your business?) and they have become a slave to the demands of their business.??

For more than 26 years we’ve been working with thousands of business owners to improve their businesses, this is what we’ve learnt and would like to share with you:?

Have a firm foundation ?

  • Know where your business is; where it is going, and have a plan to get there. Every direction you go down is going to take time, energy and or money. If your dominoes aren’t lined up you will probably run out one - if not all three- of these resources before you realize your dream.??
  • ?Making the most of your time is critical to your success. You can’t manage time, tick, tock, tick, tock ……….. you can only manage yourself.?
  • ?Whether you like it or not accountancy and numbers are the language of business, if you don’t know your numbers you are flying blind without any coms.?
  • ?The consistency with which you deliver your product or service is the holy grail of business excellence.?

Have a consistent and predictable cashflow??

First up, do your potential customers have a compelling reason to buy from you rather than from your competitors??

All businesses pursue more customers; increased turnover, and improved profits. The problem is that these are outcomes and, therefore, one needs to focus on the drivers that produce the outcomes and the outcomes will take care of themselves. By improving the five?main drivers:?

  1. Leads, ?
  2. Conversion rates, ?
  3. Average rand sale, ?
  4. Number of transaction and ?
  5. Margins – ?

by as little as 10% each, will result in a 61% increase in your businesses profits.??

Make it Scalable?

80% of what happens in your business happens over and over again, systemising these processes will not only improve consistency and productivity but will also make your business more scalable. You want your businesses to be run by your systems and your systems to be run by your people.??

Have a GREAT team?

Do you have the right people doing the right thing at the right time? You need to ensure that your team are enrolled and inspired and that everyone is rowing in the same direction.??

Whilst all of these elements are simple enough they are not easy. We find there is so often a disconnect between Business Owners knowing what to do and actually doing what needs to be done.??
