Are You Happy?

Are You Happy?

Happy Friday, I hope it's not only been a great week for you, but also a great kickoff to the start of the Holiday season whether you began to celebrate Hanukkah last week, or you're getting ready to celebrate Christmas or Kwanza next week.

Back in October I wrote about the importance of being present of the moment, whether that was being present in the moment with family & friends and really enjoying your time with them, or whether it was grinding your way through the remainder of the year.

Being present is the first step, but if you’re present in a moment that you aren’t enjoying, then something is fundamentally missing.

So today, I want to ask you point blank:

Are you happy?

It’s a difficult question to answer, and what it means to be ‘happy’ is different from person to person, but I want to really focus in on your work life here.

It’s no secret that if your personal life isn’t going well, it’s going to impact your life at work.

But similarly, and just as importantly, if you aren’t happy at work then your life at home is going to suffer.

What about the flip side of that though?

For a second, think about what would happen however if your work life was one that not only complemented your personal life, but actually enhanced it. The two playing off one another like a carefully orchestrated duet that just makes you excited and invigorated for the week, and then allows you to have a great weekend before jumping right back into the swing of things.

This picture I’m painting of work life that enhances your life and leaves you actually wanting to be at work - around friends that are colleagues, and collaborative work that leaves you feeling fulfilled and satisfied - it isn’t some fantasy.

It’s exactly what happens when you work in a company where the culture is aligned with what you want in life.

So if you answered that question above and said that you’re extremely happy with your work & how it fits in with your life then awesome, keep doing what you’re doing.

But if you didn’t and you answered that question by saying that you just aren’t happy and something needs to change... well then it sounds like you might have some thinking to do and maybe even some changes to make.

A good culture doesn't just enhance the organization it exists within, it carries out like a ripple effect into every aspect of not only your life but the lives of the people in your organization.

But it starts with a plan.

A plan to deliver a positive, engaging, consistent, and repeatable experience to everyone in your organization.

So once again, if you answered that question above and said that you just aren't happy, then maybe it's time to start creating that plan.

If you need some guidance, I’m just a message away
