Are you Happy and Healthy at Work?

Are you Happy and Healthy at Work?

The big vision that has driven me for years is quite simply: happy, healthy people.

I’ve really come to believe that for people to be healthy and happy a big source of that stems?from their experience at work as we spend the majority of our time there.

The problem is many of us aren’t happy at work. I coach people everyday who are frustrated with their teams or leaders, who feel unheard … and unappreciated.

I’m committed to changing that scenario by ensuring organizations have thriving cultures where people can flourish. And I know that for organizations that adopt coaching cultures - where everyone in the organization has coaching skills - the result is happier, healthier people.

So, today I'm answering the question: What are the benefits of coaching?

One of the great things about coaching is that everyone is going to experience its benefits in a way that's personal and unique to them. But what I do know is that the benefits of coaching usually fall into 5 main categories.

In this video, I use a Superfood Smoothie to help me explain what those categories are and how they will improve the happiness of your people and the health of your workplace culture.

Now the reason I chose this smoothie to help me explain the benefits of coaching is because coaching is like a healthy “superfood smoothie” for you and your organization. It provides all the building blocks you need to be an effective leader AND build a company that is not only profitable, but also desirable to work for.?

Just like they’re 5 main ingredients in our healthy smoothie, there are 5 main benefits individuals and organizations experience from investing in coaching. Those benefits are psychological, emotional, relational, cultural and financial.?

Psychological and Emotional: Leaders who possess fundamental coaching skills (coach-like leaders), practice deep curiosity and empathy in their conversations with employees. This creates a safe environment for team members to express their emotions and frustrations and work together with their leader to break down their challenges and build an action plan together.?

Relational: Coach-like leaders also do an excellent job of cultivating meaningful relationships with their employees. They know employees’ goals, take the time to learn about what they need to be successful … and coach-like leaders truly want to see employees succeed personally and professionally.?

Cultural: An organization that's filled with coach-like leaders will create the foundation for building a coaching culture. Coaching cultures have been shown to boost productivity, employee engagement, and overall company happiness.

Financial: Bersin, a research based HR Consulting firm, found that organizations that implement a coaching culture see improvements in their financial results by upwards of 21%.?

Coaching really is the Superfood Smoothie for organizations. If you have a coaching culture, your people are healthier and happier (and this makes me happy as it’s my vision), they’re more engaged, and they genuinely love being a part of your organization.?

If you’re interested in filling your organization with coach-like leaders and reaping the benefits of a coaching culture, The Coach-Like Leader Experience is a powerful tool that will help you do that in a way that is scalable and accessible. Very interesting analogy between a green smoothie and what it does to nourish the body, mind and spirit and the summary of how coaching can nourish and develop your employees.

Such a great summary of what coaching brings to an organization - not only is it the right thing to do to develop employees, but you've shown how it contributes to the bottom line, Lisa. And the smoothie looks great too!
