~~YOU GOTTA FAIL TO WIN~~
Makes no sense. Yet.. it makes all the sense in the world.. just ask anybody that has ever "made it" ... from your definition or theirs.
I mean, why would we ever embark on a journey that may end in failure? After all.. one of the greatest human fears is to fail. We embark because we are fascinated with the unknown.. the creativity.. and "what if"...
Yet.. when you talk about failing with people in positions that you wish to hold, they all discuss their failures as the pivot points & reflection points of the life... or better yet... the points in which everything turned.
So why do we fear failure? If you failed that means you are in the game. Being in the game gets you that much closer to winning. Yet... we fear failure.
If you go through life and never get on the field- how could you possibly expect to "make it"?
Yea.. you may not suffer as much physical and mental disappointment, but you will live with a stockpile of dreams and wishes and "what-ifs..." and that sounds like it hurts a lot more than a business failure, relationship failure, or any other kind of failure...
You gotta get in the game if you want experience life... If you want to experience life as a spectator.. well that just sucks.
I see so many young people today that are in their early 20s looking for security.. and that means they are looking for something that doesn't exist.
Bottom line: You work for yourself = no security. You work for somebody else = no security.
Security is what we define it as... and we all know when we start placing our own definitions on things, and making those ideals our realities... we ultimately end up disappointed.
I have never played it safe or secure. I hate it. Security to me is the same as death... it will take me no place that I want to be.
So when I hear about guys and gals in their 20s seeking security.. I see a being that is scared to death, with no fight in them, and a being that is not going to shake the world. Aka a bad hire. A conservative employee that will never take you or your business or anything to the next level.
This person is so conservative, scared, and fearful that they just can't win. They are not a winner and typically never will be if they maintain their attitude.
Be a renegade and challenge the status quo... that is what world-changers do.
Now I am not saying you have to go start your own business or Organization, but what I am saying is: If you are running your own company or employed someplace.. go in everyday and become a person that your Company can not operate without--- when you don't show up, people know it and feel it. Be the kind of workplace renegade that "SHOWS UP" to change the game.. Go the extra mile, put yourself out there, work late, show up early... go above and beyond because that is what it takes to be GREAT.
Be a master executer of vision or a master implementor of vision. Bring those around you to the next level by your attitude, presence, and light that you bring everyday.
The security seeking conservative is one of the most fearful creatures... you can not win with them.
Bottom line .. they are afraid to fail.
I spent a whole career in Professional Baseball... and I have never been around a group of people more afraid to fail than those involved with the Organizations... the only people that were not afraid to fail were those warriors on the field--- usually your best players were the most fearless S.O.Bs you would ever meet...
They had the most to lose.. but they put "it" and themselves out there every night... that is admirable..... but why couldn't the PR guy? or the trainer?.... fear... organizations led by fear will never win long term.... EVER. The external wins they may receive are masked and guarded by individuals that never even got to feel that WIN because they were so worried about keeping their job... sad.
My hope for you today is that you read this... and start to run, run fast... and BECOME fearless in your Organization... greatness can start with you! It starts NOW.
I write practically... because that is all that matters... functional, simple solutions that help people WIN. No B.S., No gimmicks, No fads. #trainlikeapro.
