WORK-LIFE BALANCE
So what exactly is Work-Life Balance?
For some people, it’ll be getting free from the office daily at 5–6 pm and then do whatever we have in our personal life. For some, it’ll be a lively atmosphere in the office/workplace where everyone is equally paying attention to overall development with the company’s development and the list goes on. It’ll never be the same for everyone. So here are some tips that you can follow to make it happen based on your needs and requirements.
1. Work is a never-ending process:
Yep, you heard it right. So no matter whether you doing overtime or not, it’ll still be there. Stop getting worried if and all it’s not completed and the day is over. The next day will still be there.
2. Plan your day in Advance:
According to “Brian Tracy”, a famous author, we should plan our day in very early hours and the best time is just when you wake up. Keep planning the whole day as it goes and keeps dividing time into smaller chunks of tasks that need to be done first. Planning should be very dynamic in nature so that if anything important comes up in between you still have some time-pool to spend it on. Once you planned, stick on it.
3. Don’t mix personal and professional moments:
Don’t attend/reply to any official calls/mails once you have left the office especially when you’re with your loved ones. Politely tell your higher authorities that I cannot do that thing now, I’m with my family or I’m traveling. Sometimes, it’s good to lie for your own betterment. Remember, work is a never-ending process but you rarely get a chance to be with your loved ones. The same kind of scenario applies once you’re in your workplace. Give your 100% over there because that is the only source of income for you. Tell your families/friends not to call you at this particular time unless it is important for you to attend.
4. Leave your office fatigue/tensions in office only:
The heading says it all. Surrender yourself to yours after you come from work.
5.Essential Breaks:
According to the book, “How to win friends and influence people”, most influential people are those which mix up easily with others. So, in the workplace involve in healthy discussions(not in GOSSIPs). Meet your colleagues, take a walk. Have some fun in between the work schedule. Remember a little talk over coffee makes your mind refresh.
6.Vacations: Your Birth Right
Go on vacations after every particular interval, it’ll make you live away from the day-to-day hustle-bustle life. Don’t attend any calls from the workplace or politely refuse if they are expecting you to work that time also. Meet your old college/school mates, it’ll help you to furnish your bonds. Do some charity, that will give you a sense of accomplishment. So, people if you have pending leaves in your account, spend it, no matter you are ill or not(it applies while taking sick leaves also). Again, a Break is essential, and going on vacation is the best thing you can do if you want some.
7. Create a Positive Environment around yourself:
Inspire people with the kind of work you do, they should feel happy working with you. Remember a good leader always takes his/her team with himself/herself. You should appreciate your peers for their commendable work and at times if there is a need to be a bit strict, go ahead. Crack lame jokes, tell some stories about yourself. Ask about others. Remember people will show interest in your task only and only if you’re showing interest in theirs. A little example: You need someone to write some mail for you and you know that there is one person who writes well, so what will you do. Simply ask him/her to write a mail for you or will you appreciate his/her writing skills first and then ask? I think the second option is the one which will give the desired result.
8.Start Delegating:
Start distributing the work you’re getting. Learn how to delegate. There are many videos/Ted Talks on this topic. Delegating work doesn’t mean that you’re demeaning someone by giving them non-important work. It shows that you trust them and they will essentially give you better results, plus, it’ll make them learn how to delegate in the future. Don’t take everything on your head. There should always be one saturation point. Start DELEGATING.
Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important. — Stephen R Covey.

4 年I appreciate how you've clubbed various viewpoints on work life balance. I have been implementing 'Vacation : Your birth right' for a while now. I definitely need to work a lot more on the 'Delegating' aspect of it. Thank you for sharing this with us ??
