You are going to die!

You are going to die!

So .... what are you waiting for?

I have personally wasted the last 7 years of my life. I've been waiting...

For what I don't know. For something to miraculously appear that will change everything for the better? For that extraordinary opportunity to rear its head?

For many of us, we exist in the 'when-then' fallacy. When this happens, then I'll be able to ....

But do you know what? It's not going to. Not unless you make a conscious change in what you are doing in order to bring about that change, that life that you desire.

In this article, we will explore why NOW is the best time to start a change and how coaching will be a vehicle that will unlock what it is you are searching for.

The illusion of time: Why 'Someday' Never Comes:

We all tell ourselves that we'll start making big changes 'Someday'. Someday, we'll prioritise our personal growth, invest in our development and take that leap into the unknown. There's an uncomfortable truth... "someday" doesn't exist. It's a comforting mirage we create to avoid facing the discomfort of change today. The more we rely on the illusion, the further away our goals drift, remaining forever on the horizon.

In the fast-paced corporate world, where people aspire to more, there is always another project, another meeting or urgent task that demands your attention. It's easy to justify delaying your personal growth by convincing yourself that you'll get to it when things settle down. But let's be honest - when has that ever really happened? Life doesn't slow down and waiting for the 'right moment' often means waiting forever.

The reality is, the only time we truly have, is now.

Every moment you postpone investing in yourself is a moment lost, a step not taken forward towards your future success.

The 'When-Then Fallacy: How it sabotages your success

How often have you caught yourself thinking; "when I finish this project, then I'll focus on my personal development," or "when I get that promotions, then I'll invest in coaching"? This is the classic "when-then" fallacy that convinces us that growth can wait until the perfect conditions present themselves. But these rarely, if ever, materialise.

This mindset is particularly dangerous for aspiring executives and entrepreneurs. The demands of your career will only increase and the "when moments" will continue to pile up.

Success isn't about waiting for the right circumstances, more it is about creating them/ If you can take control of your growth you can constantly move forwards.

Facing Mortality: How awareness of death should fuel your urgency.

There is something incredibly powerful about acknowledging our own mortality. In the West, we find the concept incredibly uncomfortable. Yet the realisation that our time is limited can be a profound motivator. When you confront the fact that we are not here forever, it can help focus and consider how we spend our days, our energy and focus.

Are we living to our potential?

Are we pursuing what really matters?

Your legacy isn't something that can be created 'someday' - it's built with the choices you make today.

Redefining Success: Growth is more important than comfort.

Success often gets defined by external markers - titles, salaries and accolades - but how you define true success could be about much more than that. It's about continuous growth, pushing beyond the familiar and striving to become the best version of yourself. For many aspiring executives (and entrepreneurs), the comfort of where they are can feel safer than the uncertainty of change.

But real growth happens outside the comfort zone - where the challenges are greater and the rewards more meaningful.

Redefining success may mean shifting your focus from simply achieving goals, to embracing a process of personal and professional development. Recognising where comfort has led to stagnation and where discomfort can mean being on the path to something greater.

Coaching can be a great tool to drive this journey by providing guidance and support that is needed to push past your limitations and reach new levels of competence and fulfilment.

Your future Self: The person you are meant to be.

I want you to imagine yourself a year from now.

A version of yourself who is achieving everything you aspire to - someone who is confident, skilled and in control of their career and life. It's not some distant dream, it's the person you're capable of becoming with the right commitment and guidance.

The choices you make today will determine if it remains a vision, or become the reality.

Becoming your future self won't happen by accident. It will require attention, intentional action and effort. Sometimes you may need a push or a pull from someone who can see that potential more clearly than you. Have you found that person yet?

If you take action today, you're not just planning for a better future - you're actively creating it. Don't let that person you're meant to be remain just a possibility.

One day you will die. So live it well.

Well written article Bob, great inspiration to push us out of our personal comfort zone. Your challenge to asses our own "When, Then", it leads to our "And-then" of our personal story. We are agents of action and I enjoy your prompt to switch to a "Therefor". I pray all readers keep up the steps towards their growth. Thanks for your words Bob.

This is of course true and probably why those that has already brushed with it, often have a different sense of what ‘living’ really is.

What do you need to make you take action? Maybe you need a push over the edge by someone else just to give you the confidence to go for it?!
