Are you giving yourself the opportunity to live the life you want to live?

I was rearranging boxes on a shelf in my basement and discovered a binder filled with notes, topic ideas and final versions of speeches I've given over the years. I quickly found myself reading the speeches and reliving many of my onstage moments. As I continued to read page after page, I found the closing paragraph of a commencement speech I delivered in 2005 titled, Are you giving yourself the opportunity to live the life you want to live? The closing paragraph went a little something like this...Building a Successful Life

You have the potential to succeed in life. You were born to succeed! You have winning qualities within you! You choose which qualities to express and the values for guiding your life. You have the power to choose your thoughts and actions. How you respond, changes the results you get. You can use your thoughts and actions at any time, to create more positive results. You can manage your emotions and build respect. You are responsible for your actions. Your present and future can be different from your past by making new choices.
