What do you do with your stress when you are done with work?
Specifically, WHO do you give your stress to?
Some people give their stress to their partner but most people are giving their stress to their dogs. The majority of cats aren't going to take it but dogs want to help you feel better.
Dogs are man’s best friend for a reason. They’re happy when you get home, they miss you when you go and when you’re having a really bad day, they’re there for you. Even if no one else is.
The problem is -? dogs literally take on your energy.?
When you don't feel good or you come home stressed out, they are glued to you and they’re absorbing that energy for you.
I had a friend sick with bronchitis visit my 3 month old Golden Retriever puppy when I wasn’t home. I got pictures of her posing with my puppy and the message: just sitting with her I feel so much better.
My reaction was NO and a message back saying please don’t let my puppy take on your energy. My puppy was recovering from a severe vaccine reaction, yet she made my friend feel significantly better. That’s what dogs do...and at a cost to my puppy's energy.
Some people think it's cute or great that their dog does this, but it's not good for the dog.
As a Medium, I’ve seen so many sweet dogs put their own well being at risk to make their humans feel better. If you want to help your dog, you want to stop giving them your stress, sick energy and bad vibes.?
How to Stop Giving Your Dog Your Stress
The first thing you want to do is to stop giving them energy that isn’t love and positive. You do this by letting go. Letting go is how you clear your energy from stress, frustration, irritation, agitation and lower energy vibes. Here's a video to help you clear your stress.
Letting go isn’t a practice that most people have but it is something that you should do every day, throughout the day. It’s a way for you to destress your energy and feel better. Your dog will love it. You should destress from your workday before you even see or touch your dog.
Currently, you’re letting go when your dog is around you, sitting next to you or on you. While they’re there, you’re letting all that stress and negative energy out. Unfortunately it’s flowing into the dog.?
Let’s change that!
Instead of giving that energy to your dog, imagine giving it to God, Universe, Source…whatever higher power you want to give it to. Truly let that stress and negative energy go, imagine watching it disappear. You can add in an I am statement like, “I am free.”
Exercising is also an easy way to consciously let go. Walking, running, biking, swimming and weight lifting are all great ways to let that energy go and feel lighter and freer.
You can also let go in the car. Crack the windows or the moon roof and imagine letting your stress fly out and disappear before you even get home!
How to Give Your Dog Positive Energy
Dogs LOVE positive energy and will soak it up because it feels good.?
Before my last Golden, Ally, passed we were watching her nephew Dallas the weekend before. When I pressed my forehead to his to align his energy, Ally looked at me like what are you doing, huffed and looked away. She didn’t like that I was giving him energy, but he LOVED it. After that I gave it to him when Ally wasn’t around.

Giving your dog positive energy is easy.?
You can touch them with your hand and let your love and appreciation for them go to them.?
You can also do what I do. I put my third eye to theirs and I send them White Light. White Light is God, Love, Universe, Source - again whatever higher power you want to use. First imagine the White Light coming in from the top of your head, through your body, into your feet and into the Earth. Then imagine it flowing from your source to them. I’ll imagine it going from my third eye to their third eye. They LOVE this!
Another way to give your dog positive energy is to play a meditation out loud. Sit there and do it while they’re with you. When I used to offer energy healing, guided meditations at 5 star spas, the dogs would all be in the middle of the circle we made, loudly snoring.
And of course, there is always telling your dog that it’s a good dog. They love that too!
Dogs are very sensitive to energy.?
I’m sure you’ve noticed that they like certain people and not others. They know what other dogs to stay away from. They feel safe in some spaces and afraid of others. They know.
Now you have some tools to give them more positive energy and they’re going to love it. And hopefully you'll use your new stress relief tools to help you let go and feel better.
