YOU GET WHAT YOU EXPECT!
HIGH EXPECTANCY SUCCESS THEORY - The more you expect from a situation that confronts you the greater your chance of success. You are up to bat against a lefty with a wicked break way curve ball and he is striking everyone out. If you go to bat with the idea that this guy is unhittable chances are you are right. If you go to bat thinking "this guy is really good and I can hit him and here is how I am going to do it". Your chance of success goes up drastically. Thinking this way gives your mind a solution and path to follow. Just saying "I can hit this guy" is good and much better than fear or doubt but having a strategy is even better!
When you think "this meeting is going to be a drag" ... it is
When you think "this teacher is boring" ... you are right
When you think "this is going to be hard" ... you just made it harder
HIGH EXPECTANCY SUCCESS THEORY
INSTEAD OF
When you think "this meeting is going to be a drag" ... TRY - These meetings have a tendency to drag so I am taking great notes, asking questions and keep engaged no matter what!
When you think "this teacher is boring" ... TRY - I want an A in this class and all teachers have value even if class is a little boring I will be excited and get an A
When you think "this is going to be hard" ... TRY - I love challenges and I will do this. If other people can do this so can I. Then see yourself do it before you start. Think of other things you have done that were hard and succeeded then go for it.
HIGH EXPECTANCY SUCCESS THEORY
Think it of your children, your spouse and yourself. You will get more out of them and yourself than ever before.
If you expect someone to make you unhappy you will find a way to be right. Little things will become big things and big things unsurmountable.
If, howeverkenbaummentaledge.com you expect people to do things that make you happy you will find these just as easily. Little things done daily will reinforce your positive feelings and big things are positively overwhelming. Think of how we can focus on our kids shortcomings, expect them to do poorly in a subject and sure enough they do. They pick up our verbal and non-verbal clues. When we expect them to do well they also pick up on our verbal and non-verbal clues and generally speaking our expectancy of success rubs off on them.
