Are you Game for Life Leadership ?

Are you Game for Life Leadership ?

Remember this date 7th August 2021, Neeraj Chopra won the Olympic gold for us in Athletics after so many decades of disappointments in a global sport arena. Every Indian cherished his Victory and by no means it is less than any herculean effort, but this question remains in everyone’s mind “how do we make it happen for our children and generation next to come?”

We are always living in the world of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), We want our sons and daughters to be well educated, if need be, motivate or bulldoze them to study for 18 hrs a day, The sense of accomplishment we get when we see them securing a seat in IITs, BITS or any other premier Institute is second to none, but wait a minute is that what makes them successful in life. I am not referring to monetary gains but a healthy mind and body. The mental and physical toughness to face challenges in Life, are we preparing them to manage the unsurmountable challenges in life. The answer is “No”.

What gives them that strength is Sports, Sports gives us the Life Leadership Lessons. It teaches that every failure is an opportunity to better us, try harder and persevere to become the best version of ourselves. It does matter he/she wins the competition ,but when our children play the sport they learn teamwork, discipline and more importantly the sportsmanship and letting go the success to the deserving sportsperson. In all other field, we are taught not to be a failure, in fact never allowed to encounter the failure but only in sports we face the life head-on.

We are living in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world where nothing is certain or long-lasting. A successful person is the one who steers his way through the VUCA world, it requires good health, physical fitness, and mental toughness. Sports gives this to them at a very young age. We all enrol to Gym and physical fitness program after it’s too late. Why we see so many physical fit looking young men and women succumb to cardiac arrests and other acute diseases, you cannot build the foundation of health after years of living in intellect world.

As a parent, the responsibility to builder a healthier nation starts with enrolling our children in a sports activity, in fact creating an atmosphere for them to love sports and participate without expectation of winning. It could be any sport, doesn’t matter. Second thing when we see our kids excel in sport, give them right ecosystem for training and negotiate with educational institutions to create a curriculum in which they learn and master the basics of education, they may not excel in every subject, but they know the basics.

This is the task of government at large to create a separate curriculum for sportsperson. They were given enough time to spend in the field as well as take adequate number of lessons. The next important consideration is the nutrition value we give to our children, lot of us believe that giving them the luxuries of life will make them rich and strong unfortunately it’s not. We must ensure adequate balanced diet without stealing their pleasure of indulging in some tasty foods. Today we are not a talent deficit nation but a nutrition deficit nation, especially the kids coming from below poverty line family’s needs their daily portion of nutritious food.

If we are ready to make these changes in our life, I will tell you that we will become a very different nation in 10 years from now.
You will at least see a dozen gold medals if not more from Olympics, but more importantly a healthier and mentally fit generation will be the torch bearers for India to make us move faster and better in all spheres of life.

God Bless the World with Children blooming to achieve their highest potential in Life. Jai Hind
