Are You A Friday Evening Lover and A Monday Morning Hater?
Helping Entrepreneurs with Passion, Purpose & Persistence
If this is you, this is not good because it means you're unsatisfied in what you're doing in life on a daily basis. You're not fulfilled nor are you living your life's purpose. Let's take a look at this situation, how it evolved and what you can do to get out of this rut and live your best life.
Let's start at the beginning...don't worry, it will be short! The concept of the modern workweek, with weekends off, emerged during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century. Labor unions advocated for shorter work days and weekends to provide workers with rest and leisure time outside of the factory or workplace.
Over time, the Monday-to-Friday work week has become deeply ingrained in societal norms and expectations. Many aspects of our culture, from school schedules to business operations, are structured around this framework.
While the traditional Monday-to-Friday workweek may feel constraining, it's also designed to maximize economic efficiency. By standardizing work schedules across industries and businesses, it facilitates coordination and communication, allowing for smoother operations and productivity.
It's believed that the delineation between weekdays and weekends provides an opportunity for individuals to balance work responsibilities with personal life, leisure, and social activities. However, this balance can sometimes feel skewed if work-related stress spills over into weekends or if individuals feel unsatisfied with their work. Ahhh...that last sentence "if individuals feel unsatisfied with their work".

With advancements in technology and changes in work culture, there's been a shift towards more flexible work arrangements, such as remote work or flexible scheduling. While these changes can offer greater autonomy and work-life balance for some, they can also blur the boundaries between work and personal time, leading to challenges in maintaining separation and managing stress.
So let's talk about the new buzz phrase 'work-life balance'. If you need to come up with a solution towards 'work-life balance', then you're not living the life you could or should. Finding 'work-life balance' means something is very much out of balance and needs fixing. You shouldn't have to choose between work and life and even though the saying might sound cliché, “If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life”, no truer words were ever spoken! Life should be about living the best, most enjoyable, loving, adventurous and joyful life you can and the 'balance' should be there all the time no matter what.
So this is my challenge to you. Look inward at your own existence, examine your own life, the people around you, what brings you joy, what makes you sad, what stresses you out all the time and look for ways to remove yourself from this cycle of life vs work and weekdays vs weekends. You need to realize that the limited time we all have here on earth, should not be made up of loving 5PM on a Friday and hating 9AM on Monday mornings. If this you (and you know who you are), you must break this cycle because you are living a lesser life than you deserve. You deserve to be happy with as little unhappiness and stress as possible and with as much love and joy as possible. This can only be done by living your best life and this can only be accomplished by waking up each and every day excited about what you're going to do with your day and for the most part, loving each and every moment of your life.
