Are you following your own advice?

How often do you tell your students to believe in themselves, try something new, accept failure as part of learning, etc.
I'm sure that, as a good tutor, you instil self-confidence in them and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone.
But do you do the same for yourself?
I know I don't always follow my own advice. Its a lot easier to say it than to do it! And there are always creeping self-doubts.
For example, while I've been talking about the Passive Income Summer Series this week, I've heard some self-doubt from fellow tutors.
" That's for other people "
Is it? No one tells you just how hard they've worked to get to where they are today. They don't tend to mention the failed launches, hours of promotion, ideas that didn't land, or even unhappy customers. Those are used as a learning experience, swept under the carpet, and they try again. They will have tried again, or else you would never have seen their success.
We all have these 'failures', and we are all for it when it is our students failing, but don't give ourselves the same leeway.?
If you've tried passive income before and it didn't go to plan, or perhaps you've held yourself back from trying because you don't see how it could work for you, try backing yourself in the same way as you back your students. You deserve that support too.?
"I don't have a big enough / any audience."
No one has a huge audience when they start. Unless their parents are celebrities... (But even still they probably have their own challenges. I mean, imagine knowing exactly what your parents did when they were your age, and seeing the embarrassing photos. No thanks... )

We have to start from somewhere, and you'd be surprised how many people are interested in what you offer when you put the word out.
Once you start connecting with likeminded people, the opportunities are literally endless. I can't tell you how many things have grown out of a small idea in a conversation for me. We start where we are, and the growth will come.?
In fact the only way that we don't grow is by not trying at all. And that would be an absolute waste of your talents.?
"I don't have anything to sell."
As an educator, you've likely spent a large part of your life learning, and quite a lot of time sharing what you've learned with others. Isn't that exactly what goes into creating courses, eBooks, online resources, planners, group classes, etc.? Why can't you turn your experience and skill into a passive income product just like everyone else?
Don't undervalue yourself. We all have a different set of life experiences and learning. If you haven't seen yours yet, you're just not looking hard enough.
Or more likely, you're comparing yourself to someone else. That's a waste of time for all concerned. You're not someone else, and there's not a single other person in the history of time who is you. That's what you have going for you and that's pretty awesome.
Whatever you're holding yourself back from, try following the same advice you give to your students and believe in yourself.
Come and join us in the Tutors' Summer Series and grow your business and self-confidence this summer.
