The best analagy I can use to summarize this is if we know of how the Train on its track climbing a mountain or a hill has its main engine at the front and also a main (support) engine connected for that portion at the back, to provide that required thrust and confidence to see through that enduring high journey and take the bogies/passesngers to the other side.

Providing that moral technical competent emotional support is exactly what one looks for at times of trouble, particularly when the ship of life is at its downside.
By being a good follower the Leader displays he's or her willingness to partake in the crisis, provide solution and thoughts, and more importantly stick by critical make or break decisions by providing the necessary confidence that as an authoritative person is there and a part of the whole event.
It is said it is not weak to humble oneself if the act strengthens another.
