Are You Falling Into Content Fatigue?
This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about a mistake I see all the time in social media marketing—something I like to call “content fatigue.”
Reusing Content: The Tempting Trap That Could Hurt Your Marketing
Let me explain. When a business commissions a photographer or videographer to create content, I often see them reusing the same set of images or videos over and over, sometimes for weeks. And while it’s tempting to get as much use as possible out of that content, it can work against you in the long run.
Why Content Fatigue Happens
I get it—creating new content is tough, especially when the budget is tight. But, in my opinion, this is where creativity can step in. If you can’t invest in a big production right now, grab your phone, and create something quick and authentic. Trust me, it’ll be more valuable to your audience than recycling old content.
Another reason for reusing content is simply not recognizing how powerful fresh, consistent content can be for your brand. Yes, it’s hard work, but the effort you put in today will pay off tomorrow.
The Bottom Line
I’m not saying you can never reuse content. But each time you do, it loses a bit of its power. Your audience will eventually tune out if they see the same thing again and again. So, next time you think about reusing an old video or image, ask yourself—could I create something new instead?
