24 Years Later – and the Gladiator Legacy Lives On
There is great anticipation for the release of Gladiator 2, it’s hoped that the sequel will live up to Ridley Scott’s visually stunning epic that has left a lasting impact on cinema.
Released 24 years ago Gladiator follows Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), a Roman general who is betrayed by the ambitious Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) after the death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris).
Set two decades after the original, the sequel follows Lucius Verus (played by Paul Mescal), the son of Lucilla, as he navigates the treacherous world of Roman politics and gladiatorial combat.
