You Will End Up in a Nursing Home
That's right, folks. All of us are headed in that direction. And unless you're rich, you will end up in a crappy one.
We have a golden opportunity to invest in our own future when we make meaningful contact with those who are near the end of their lives here on Earth. You never know what a loving touch, a sincere smile, and an open heart can do for those who are starving for appreciation.
Be attentive. Pay attention. These cost nothing but time and energy.
If you are in the senior care industry, consider it a privilege. You may be the last person one sees a they enter into the next stage of their journey. Make it count.
If you are lucky enough to work in a crappy nursing home, for God's sake be the light in that dark house. Go the extra mile to listen to their stories, hold their hand when they cry, and remember that every move you make is being recorded. Even when you think no one is watching, somewhere out there....it's on film.
One day someone will be changing your diapers. The effort you put into them is the effort that will be returned to you when it's your turn.
