We’ve had some really amazing ladies on for the last couple of episodes and as always, we like to do a bit of a recap. That’s exactly what we did on episode 69 of the Embracing “Only” podcast.
Answer this question…?
“Are you in control of your life?”
It’s easy to feel pulled down by experiences that are seemingly outside of your control. You can become paralyzed by fear and get stuck in transition.?
“You have to firmly hold the keys to your career in your hand, then you’ve got to put it into that slot that you put it into the car, and then you’ve got to turn the car and drive it forward the way you want it to go.” - Archita Fritz
Otherwise, someone else will do it for you and your career (or life) may not end up going in the direction you want it to go. That’s why in this newsletter we’re exploring how you can take control of your life and get back in the driver’s seat.

Face Your Fears
Rejection and failure, even though they can be painful, are natural parts of life. Are you avoiding opportunities because you fear rejection?
Oftentimes what we're afraid of is the feeling that we get when we're rejected, not the situation itself.
What is the cost of not facing your fears?
Determine this by asking yourself these questions:
“All our fears are workout-able so we've got to rise to the challenge and not let them hold us back.” - Archita Fritz
As you are on this journey, think about the kind of muscles you need to build. Muscles like being able to handle rejection and not getting paralyzed by fear. These are things that you can practice.
How can you do this? By seeking out nos.
These can be as simple or as complex as you want, but by seeking our hard nos, you are building your resiliency towards rejection and failure.
Turn Your Lessons Into Growth
There’s a quote by top LinkedIn creator Justin Welsh that resonates with us:

“All the unsuccessful people believe that the game is rigged. But the successful people know the game is rigged, and they learn how to play.”
?You can make all the excuses you want… but at the end of the day, there are always going to be politics involved and if you let that hold you back from making progress you are not going to go anywhere.
What are you going to do about it?
“At some point in time, you have to shift into I just learned a lesson, now how am I going to turn that into growth?” - Olivia Cream
Trust Yourself
Ask yourself this question:
Do I trust myself?
Sometimes the answer may be no. And it may vary for different parts of your life. What is important is that you are honest with yourself and you look for evidence that can support your answer.
“A lot of us will lie to ourselves and say, I can't do this when you've been doing it all throughout your life. But you're still saying to yourself that you can't do it. Why?” - Olivia Cream
And you don’t have to do it by yourself.
“Go seek out help, like really seek help in many different ways. A buddy, a coach, an accountability partner. [...] There is so much value in having that accountability sometimes sit outside of yourself, because you may not trust yourself to do certain things.” - Archita Fritz
