YOU ARE A DRIVER!!!

YOU ARE A DRIVER!!!

Driving is a noble and essential profession that has not only contributed immensely to the world’s development but has also helped in the reduction of human stress and improved communication. It is one of the few professions that is generous enough to share its rights and privileges with any member of the society, hence this gesture should be properly appreciated and not abused.

Irrespective of your position in the society, Director, Chief Executive Officer, Manager, Helper, Maid etc., while behind the wheels on the road, you have a temporary designation as a “DRIVER”, and so is everyone else driving a car.

In addition, irrespective of the make of the car, the model, or the value, remember that every other road user has equal and undeniable rights and privileges to the road as well just like you.

When these points begin to sink in the heart and minds of all road users, then road traffic accidents would take a deep nosedive and more lives would be saved.

The need to imbibe the culture of mutual regard and respect to all road users cannot be overemphasized and this is in line with the tenets of the driving profession.

When one ignores and disobey road traffic regulations because of his/her social status or intimidate other road users because of the type and value of car he/she drives, then the efforts and resources being invested by the government for the control of road traffic accidents are not just being undermined but the irreplaceable human lives are being endangered.

When entering the steering, one thing you should bear in mind is that despite your social status, you are about to take up the designation of a “DRIVER” and just as you would protect your social image, the values of the driving profession need to be upheld as well.

This is an appeal to the conscience of all to keep ego, pride, and arrogance at home if you are to drive as these attitudes and driving cannot coexist at the same time without a disastrous outcome. When a road traffic accident occurs, anyone can get injured and at this point, the title and social status, the type, make or value of the car no longer matter.

To avoid road traffic accidents and reduce their moral, financial, and legal implications, humility has a very important role to play.

SELL YOUR EGO TO PRESERVE YOUR LIFE!!!
