If you don’t say yes, you’re not going to be part of it.

Not making money in between acting jobs? Change something. Don’t keep doing the same thing expecting a different result.

I genuinely care about actors and your success. I think if you read through my articles, and my posts, and my comments you will see this. When I am in between casting projects, I take the time to answer as many messages as I can, and to give words of support and encouragement to those that are new, and to those that have arrived in their career. This is not just a brand, it’s who I am. I don't do classes and I don't charge for my advice. This is my gift to you.

With filming being stalled for a year now, I know that many of my performer friends are out of work. And then there’s the problem of the “side-gig”. That ever elusive job that you take that gives you enough freedom to be able to go on auditions without losing the job. Many work in hospitality (restaurant/hotel/valet/catering, etc.,). And many others work administrative jobs.

But the restaurants closed and the non-essential offices closed. So my dear actor friends got hit from both sides. No gig. And… no “side-gig”.

I know you are stuck. So, reach out to me and be open to changing something in the way you approach your career, and how you handle money, and how you make money in between gigs. You can like, or comment on this post, and that’s appreciated.

But I will only respond to those who message me privately about this.

I’m not trying to sell you anything. I genuinely want you to succeed. In a recent project I just finished, there were over 5200 actor submissions for only 8 roles. I can’t give the acting jobs to all of you. Even if you are amazing. Even if I really really want to!

Only 8 out of 5200 applicants will get the limited jobs available on that project. And even they will only get paid for the few short days that they film, since it was a non-union student project (no residuals). You are working in an profession that may take a while to fully come out of lockdown.

Do something industrious in the meantime.

If you don’t say yes, you’re not going to be part of it.

See you on the upside!

It’s pretty obvious just from following you for a few weeks that you are a genuinely nice person. You really do care! That’s better than all the marketing in the world :)

This is such a dilemma for actors. I started a production company, but that too takes time to build. Thank you for the advice and support!
