You Don't Know Until You Know...

You Don't Know Until You Know...

I received a text which led to a phone call this morning with a phenomenal candidate. They recently had through their first interview and they nailed it.

Then, life happened.

The candidate received some very difficult news that led to about a week of no contact. I couldn't get a response.

But then my phone lit up with a text that communicated so much humility, an apologetic tone, and understanding if it was too late.

That isn't a message you reply to by text. You call!

It all served as a poignant reminder, which is that we don't know the turbulence and stormiiness of life a person may be going through...until we know.

We don't know until we know, so until we know...

  • Refrain from an uninformed conclusion.
  • Don't write someone off prematurely.
  • Choose empathy, sympathy and understanding.
  • Ensure they know they matter to you.
  • Think and treat them like you would hope to be treated if things were the other way around.

We may not be able to solve or even calm the turbulence of life others go through, but we can choose to lighten their load through even the smallest expressions of kindness, a listening ear, and understanding.

Hoping you have a great Friday!
