You don't know Jack
My resume is an odd mix of things. You'll see creative work, management, sales, customer service, business development, labour... a bit of everything. And every single time I have been looking for a new position, I get asked some variation of the same thing:
"You seem like a Jack of all trades. Why did you leave all these different places, and what do you see in a future with us?"
Truly, there is no great answer except for the honest one. Each experience of my past has given me another tool in my toolbelt, and often ones that surprise. When working as an automotive salesman, I could seamlessly communicate technical details in laymans terms without making clients feel unintelligent because of my time as a parts technician, and as an autobody technician, and as a warranty administrator. In business development and B2B sales, I often cross the superficial lines laid out by others in the same industry because I can correlate different perspectives, such as positioning and marketing from the viewpoint a start-up compared to quarterly growth objectives for a large corporation.
2023 has proven to be the start of an incredible year, as I find myself in the advantageous position of being in a role with endless potential, an exceptionally talented production team at my back, and carte blanche to make the most of it. My seemingly random resume is an asset that few others have, and I am excited to finally be able to put most of it to use at the same time!
What are you excited for in 2023?
