You Don’t Have The Job Until You Get the Job!
There are known reasons for a company to rescind your job offer. Some are within your control but others you cannot control.?
This article provides five reasons that can result in your contract of employment being rescinded and five actions you can take to soften the blow!
Five Reasons That Can Result In Your Contract of Employment Being Rescinded.
1.??????You ignore the deadline.?Timeliness is a self-management skill, and you need to show that you are professional. Ensure that you respond to deadlines.
2.??????Your behavior post interview, online, or in meetings is unprofessionally inconsistent with the behavior displayed when the job was offered to you.
3.??????You received a conditional offer, and the conditions are not met. For example, if you failed a background or security check, required education or licensure, the company will not move forward.?
4.??????Factors outside your control such as, unanticipated economic setbacks in the company or the market in the form of natural disasters, pandemic, cancelled projects or loss of major clients, change in strategic direction, significant budget cuts, all can lead to an offer being rescinded.
5.??????Internal chaos regarding the specifics of the role.?Whenever management or the key players are not clear and cannot agree on what the new hire will be required to do, they may need to expand or decrease the role which has implications for the salary paid.?The role may not have been well defined or scoped before they decided to start the interview process.
What Can a Jobseeker Do?
You may or may not have legal recourse. In any event, is not good advice to start a relationship with a company by taking them to court.
In most cases, a company can decide not to hire you and take action before you start a job. Most companies will give include a probationary period so ensure that you read your contract carefully before you sign it. Whether short term, long term or permanent, a company will provide a contract of employment. The onus is on you to read it carefully.
If you believe that you are being discriminated against based on factors such as disabilities, age, gender, or race, you may have legal resource because most countries have discrimination laws. In these cases, hiring an employment attorney may still not change the outcome because discrimination cases are difficult to prove. However, it will not hurt to see advice of an attorney.
Regardless of the outcome, do not be bitter and do not burn any bridges. Every connection or interaction you have with people is a good opportunity to show your professionalism. This could also be the key to finding your ideal job in terms of a referral.

Five Actions To Take If Your Job Offer Is Being Rescinded?
1.??????Be kind to yourself: ?You are #1 so you should always take care of yourself first. Do not blame yourself. It’s easy to blame yourself and start asking what you’ve done. ?If you believe that you made a mistake, use this as a learning experience. There is no value to be gained from the stress it will bring.?Fail forward.?Assess the situation and move forward.
2.??????Give yourself time to process the loss: Losing a job or a job offer is not easy to process because it comes with a feeling of rejection – sadness and anxiety because this is a setback. This is normal and you need grieving time. Consider this as a set-up for better opportunities to come your way and not a setback.?It will allow you to grieve quickly and rebuild your confidence to move forward to better position you for future success.?You cannot move forward by holding onto the past.
3.??????Assess the situation: Ask the right questions so that you can understand the situation to decide how to move forward.
4.??????Share your experience with a trusted people in your circle of influence and professional network: ?You will be encouraged by them and by networking this way you’re likely to get some needed words of encouragement, and maybe even some leads as you get back into job searching.
5.??????Have dialogue with both the old and new employer: Depending on the severity of the situation, try to have a discussion with the new potential employer to see if they can be more flexible in their approach and come to a compromise, or depending on the reasons for leaving the old job, consider asking your former employer to have it back.?

2 年Oh, yes! I've seen people sell their homes in anticipation of an offer...and then not receive an offer. I've seen people get through 1/2 a day and realize that this culture is not what they had hoped. I've seen high school aged kids who were initially excited about moving, refuse to leave their friends. So, this post is a great reminder...be enthusiastic, but be cautious!
