You need to position your personal brand strategically at all 4 levels of the executive brand journey:


1.) Visualize

2.) Crystallise

3.) Specialise

4.) Polarise


Let’s break them down.


1.) Visualise

Your executive journey isn't just a sequence of roles; it is the person you are becoming and the new-found respect you have for yourself.

Visualize who you want to be,

Where you want to go,

And how you are going to get there.

Climb a mountain. Run a marathon. Host an event. Speak on stage.

You need challenges to find your limits.

You need limits to find yourself.

There's a version of you that only exists at the end of extreme effort.

And the only way out... is becoming someone new.


2.) Crystalise

Each executive brand needs to have a unique point of view (POV) to influence and shape its category.

POVs will help you distinguish yourself with an original, visionary perspective that not only tells a unique story but also creates emotional connections and real value in a new or existing market.

If having a point of view is the message,

Your personal brand is the messenger.


3.) Specialise

If you want to be positioned and valued as an expert,

You need to showcase your DEPTH of expertise.

Specialisation is the linchpin for differentiating yourself in a professional landscape.

When you specialise, you define a unique niche that sets you apart from the rest. It's about becoming the go-to person in a specific domain, positioning yourself as the authority.

You want to a specialist,

NOT a GP.


4.) Polarise

Your personal brand is not for everyone,

It's for a few people who care.

(In personal branding, YOU are the product.)


You need to stand out.

How? Think outside the box. Be a contrarian thinker.

The more you present ideas or opinions (POVs) that challenge popular beliefs, The more your brand will stand out for the right audience and repel the wrong ones.


To put it simply,

To build a polarising executive brand,

You need to have the confidence to stand out and the courage to be disliked.


That’s it! Now you have it, the framework to build your personal brand the executive way.


But remember,

If you don’t control the narrative and make a credible name for yourself,

Others will assign a not so credible name for you.
