You Do Because You Believe: Finding the Courage to Move Forward

I found myself in the familiar, endless loop of the YouTube rabbit hole—clicking on video after video, hoping to stumble upon the inspiration I desperately needed. I was seeking something that could spark my creativity, uplift my spirit, or guide me out of the fog that had settled over my mind. The promise of “free inspiration” seemed alluring, but after hours of wandering through content that didn’t quite speak to me, I had to pause. I asked myself, “Why are you fooling with the free stuff when you already have exactly what you need?”

I took a deep breath and shifted my focus. Instead of relying on random content, I decided to revisit the resources I had invested in—courses, coaching materials, books that once delivered real change. As I did, I realized: I’ve mastered this. The knowledge is there, but I needed something else. So, I turned to the podcasts of the coaches and consultants I admire, hoping to hear a voice that might help untangle my thoughts.

Next, I sat quietly. I allowed myself to simply be with my thoughts. I opened my Bible, read, and watched a sermon from my favorite pastor—something that always seems to ground me when I’m feeling lost. Still, nothing clicked. Frustration set in, but I knew what to do: I prayed for guidance, closed my eyes, and laid my head on my desk. When all else fails, I find comfort in movement, so I went for a walk around the parking lot of my building. The world around me was quiet, and in that stillness, I allowed myself to truly listen.

It was then, as I paced the empty lot, that it hit me. The content I was searching for wasn’t out there, waiting to be discovered—it was within me. The vision I was yearning for, the answer I was so desperately trying to find, was my own. It was the book I need to write. The coaches I had leaned on had already done their part; they’d provided me with tools, insights, and guidance. They had fulfilled their promises. Now, it was my turn to step forward.

This step, though, requires more than just knowledge. It demands faith—faith in myself, in my voice, and in the vision that I have been given. The inspiration I was searching for wasn’t about finding another mentor or absorbing more content. It was about believing that I already had everything I needed. It was time for me to trust that I could create something meaningful, something that could inspire others the way I’d once hoped to be inspired.

“You do because you believe.” It’s a simple truth that anchors me now. My actions aren’t driven by the promise of certainty or the guarantees of others. They’re driven by belief—in my journey, in my growth, and in my calling. This book, this vision, is my opportunity to step into a new chapter of my life. It’s time to take the lessons I’ve learned and share them, not as a follower searching for answers, but as a leader creating them.

To anyone who’s found themselves stuck, endlessly searching for that next spark, I hope my story serves as a reminder. Sometimes, the answer isn’t outside of you. Sometimes, it’s waiting quietly within, ready for you to finally believe.

Here are some scriptures that remind us of the power of belief and obedience:

- The Ethiopian Eunuch: In Acts 8:36-38, the Ethiopian eunuch, after hearing the good news of Jesus from Philip, said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” He believed and obeyed immediately, and Philip baptized him.

- Mary, the Mother of Jesus: In Luke 1:38, Mary responds to the angel’s message with faith: “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” She believed in God’s plan, even though it was beyond her understanding.

- Abraham’s Obedience: In Genesis 12:1-4, Abraham obeys God’s call to leave his country, his people, and his father’s household to go to the land God would show him. He acted because he believed in God’s promise, even without knowing the destination.

- Noah and the Ark: In Hebrews 11:7, it says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.” Noah obeyed because he believed in what God had spoken, even though it seemed impossible.

- Peter Walking on Water: In Matthew 14:28-29, Peter says, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come.” Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. Peter obeyed because he believed, even if just for a moment.

- The Israelites Crossing the Red Sea: In Exodus 14:21-22, Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and God parted the waters. The Israelites obeyed Moses’ command and walked through the sea on dry ground because they believed in God’s power to deliver them.

Each of these stories serves as a testament to the power of belief. These individuals didn’t wait for guarantees; they acted in faith. Their actions remind us that the journey forward often begins with a simple yet profound decision: to believe and obey.

Take this as a sign to move forward with the thing you keep procrastinating on. If you enjoy helping others, embrace the opportunity to do something great.
