Are You a Disruptive Thinker?

Yup ~ we must if we want to get recognized on social media. It’s hard to believe that doing the same old thing will change your success.

“The way we’ve always done it” no longer carries water. 

Heard a podcast recently where the speaker, Jeffrey Gutsche,  was interviewed about his recent book called Create the Future. (The podcast was on 3/27/20)

His point is do not repeat past decisions if you want superior results and quite simply, that’s what most people do. Right?

If you want to stop the scroll, get people to recognize you and create spectacular success ~ Utilize Disruptive Thinking.

Gutsche uses an interesting historically stuck example of what that looks like and is the reason I’m doing this video because it has to do with the width of two horse behinds. Stay tuned.

Okay ~ here we go.

It seems the width of two horse behinds are approximately 4 feet, 8.5 inches wide. That’s a measurement I’ll take his word on because I don’t plan on checking that.

The U.S. standard railroad track width is 4 feet, 8.5 inches which comes from the way they built RR tracks in England. The question is… why did England pick the odd 4 feet, 8.5 inches?

It seems the specification came from the way wagons were built. The wagon wheel spacing came from very old English days when Imperial Rome built the roads and used their two horse chariots for transportation which created very large and deep ruts.

So, you needed to build a wagon that rode in those same ruts otherwise you’d probably destroy your wagon.

The Roman chariot was propelled by two horses’ side by side. The original specification for an Imperial Roman chariot was approximately 4 feet, 8.5 inches wide or two horses’ behinds.

So you had Roman chariots at 4 feet, 8.5 inches which led to

Wagon width being 4 feet, 8.5 inches, which led to RR tracks being 4 feet, 8.5 inches, and here’s the kicker. 

When they built the space shuttle booster rockets in Utah, they had to be transported to Cape Kennedy in Florida by train.

The RR tracks were already 4 feet, 8.5 inches which is why the booster rockets are 4 feet, 8.5 inches as tunnels weren’t much bigger than that.

Interesting huh? Though so.

It appears bureaucracies live forever. In order to stop the scroll, disruptive thinking is the way. Highly recommend listening to the podcast for yourself.
