You Did Test In All Devices Didn't You
Look in your preferred analytics solution, and you'll find a wide variety of devices and browser used.
Among the more common combinations of desktop/chrome and iPhone / Safari, you'll also find the diehard who still insists on using Netscape.
What we find when auditing a client site is that people are still not testing for the most common combinations.
Yesterday, I received an email on my Huwai P20 Pro from Steel Series inviting me to take part in their sweepstake.
The sweepstake is to celebrate selling their ten millionth mousemat.
The challenge is that when visiting the site, on an Android device running Chrome, you can't remove the cookie popup message.
This takes up 20% of my screen (and it's a tall screen) and gets in the way of actually entering the sweepstake. On a smaller screen, you're looking at up to 30% of the screen.
Which is a shame, as the sweepstake is a smart way for Steel Series to understand what particular products their customers want
By getting them to select their ideal combination of headsets, keyboards and mice, they'll have handy information to use in the future.
