You Deserve A Career You Love

If I had to come up with one thing that could really make a difference in your working life, I would say that it's finding the job you love most. How do you do that? Personal development work is key to this process. I've written a blog about this on my website, but I've also brought the good stuff to this post - if you're looking for a quick read today. Since we're so close to Valentine's Day, it seems appropriate to discuss love in this context right now.
How Do I Find A Job That Resonates?
Does personal development intimidate you? If you’re not happy with your current job, you may want to consider some self-reflection at the very least. Finding a job that truly resonates with your personal passions and values isn’t just about a great salary. In many ways, it’s about getting to know yourself. You want to become comfortable with who you are and what you really offer to the world. Self-assurance will help to align with a career you’ll love.
Personal development doesn’t have to feel like work. You should be engaged and having a little fun getting to know yourself better. I want you to find a job that aligns with your authentic self. I want you to find your way, guided by personal insights and self-reflection (a favourite topic over at my retreat-in-progress, Chateau Lachute).
Do What You Love
Who doesn't want to spend their work week doing what they love? Motivational Speaker Wayne Dyer once said that “doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life”. I believe this is true. Our collective need for job satisfaction underscores the profound impact of doing what you love. The average person spends at least half of their waking hours at work. So, choose a path that doesn’t drain your spirit!
A job you love fuels enthusiasm and builds resilience. We might not love personal development work, but if happiness on the job is the most common side-effect – it’s worth it.
Personal Development Questions
How do you identify your ideal role and discover the job that you’ll love the most? To find a job that aligns with your passions, start by asking yourself these personal development questions:
What Inspires You to Start Your Day?
Reflect on past experiences where you have felt energized. Consider how these reflections can help guide your job search.
What Would You Pursue If Money Weren’t a Constraint?

Financial considerations are a factor but they shouldn’t be the only thing driving career choices. Identify your passions, reintroduce the financial element and explore how to blend your dreams with economic viability.
What Makes You Curious?
What makes you eager to learn new things? Use your curiosity to learn everything you can about yourself. Soak in all of the things at your current job that might not relate to the role you’ve been hired for, but do relate to your future plans.
Add Your “Passions” To Your Working Life
Prioritize personal development and align your career with your passions. Routinely reflecting on what has consistently brought you joy in life can help. Be prepared to change your mind because you are constantly evolving. Explore the steps needed to transform any new interests that you may develop in the future into your next rewarding career.
Don’t need to create barriers where they don’t exist. If you struggle with self-sabotage, it will be harder to transition to a passion-driven career. You may need a little extra support to get past your limiting beliefs. The PQ Program (new to Catherine Thorburn Coaching) may be a great fit for you.
Positive Intelligence helps you conquer fear, insecurity, self-doubt, self-judgement, limiting beliefs – and so much more.?Work past the things that make you feel insecure and strengthen the voice of reason inside of you. The PQ Program will help you learn to make informed decisions based on your skills and personal goals.
Personal Development Helped Find My Dream Career
A personal anecdote from me. In my most recent newsletter, I talked about my own journey with the PQ Program. I enrolled before I decided to offer it to my clients. Just because I’m a coach, it doesn’t mean that I don’t practice regular personal development! As a coach, it’s much easier to relate to clients if you’re working on self-improvement yourself.
I am fortunate enough to work in a field that I love. Personal development took me in the direction of helping others many years ago. As a career coach I help people find jobs that they truly love. I see people blossom into the lives that they’ve always wanted.
If this sounds like something you need in your life right now, let's work together to find the career you’ll love most. If you’re ready to give Positive Intelligence a try, let’s chat!
Great advice!
