You Deserve A Break Today!

Yes, you do!?You deserve a break today and everyday to get out and exercise!?Perhaps you heard my ?Wellness Wednesday video where I talked about the great benefits of exercise.?Spring is starting to make a daily appearance! Trees, bushes, and flowers are blooming here is the southern USA.?That means summer is around the corner!
Every year, about this time, I begin to hear people talk about how they want to get their body summer ready or beach ready. ?They flip the switch, come out of hibernation, and automatically go into problem solving mode and expect to be beach body ready in a month with a quick fix!?Sorry to say, that ?nine months of neglect will not give you the body you want in a month.?As I always say, your body is not Amazon Prime.?Delivery of a new body does not occur in 2 days!?
Consider this:?Wouldn't it be great to be able to have a healthy body all year long??You will certainly be much healthier and happier!?Plus, it will make your life so much easier!? And, then when the impromptu beach trip comes up, you will be READY!
There are so many great benefits to exercise. Here are a few you've heard before. It's great for your heart and your blood pressure.?Exercise ?helps you maintain your weight and decreases your risk of type 2 diabetes.?Exercise will help you decrease your weight and reduce your risk of thirteen different types of cancer that are associated with obesity.?Exercise helps you maintain normal cholesterol level, too! ?Exercise helps stabilize your mood, anxiety, depression and improves your sleep.
There are tons of different advantages to exercise.?But you know, the most important reason you need to do it is because you're deserving of it.?It's not about the exercise!?We grew up exercising!?If you need instruction, you can hire a trainer or there are countless YouTube videos at our fingertips.?You only need about 30 minutes a day! You can break it up into 15 minutes sections. You can do 30 minutes at a time.?Be sure to do a mixture of cardio and strength/weight training! ?You’ve heard this all before.?
Why is it so hard??The hard part for people is adopting a mindset that you are deserving of creating the time to get your exercise in.?If you think you don’t have the time to take care of yourself, you are believing the lie you are telling yourself!??I get it!?I was like that many years ago! ?Other responsibilities seemed more important than taking care of me!??
How did I make the shift??I hit rock bottom trying to do it all between work and graduate school at 55.?I made the decision to make it a lifestyle! ?My workout time goes in my schedule every day.?Am I perfect,??No, not at all.?Do things come up out of my control??Certainly! But, ?I make the time to exercise, even if it is a walk outside at 8PM while checking in on a podcast and doing my?strength training while watching a TV show.?Are there times I don’t want to work out??Certainly!?I’m human and far from perfect!?But I remember how great I will feel and that I love myself to be consistent?while remembering all the great health benefits!?After the first few minutes, I am glad I committed to myself to JUST DO IT!
So, when you all are wanting to get summer ready, remember you can be nine months ahead of the game by taking control of your health and get out and get your exercise!?But, remember, you can’t outrun your fork!?What you put in your body is 80% of the battle.?Add exercise but also manage your stress, hydrate, and get your sleep!?They all work together in harmony to create a happy, healthier you!
