Are You a Decision-Maker or Decision-Delayer?

Ever find yourself in the throes of the dreaded "I-don't-know" syndrome? Staring into the endless choices, wondering,?

"What do I want to do next?"?

"Should I take this job?" or even?

"What if I can't stand the [insert any terrifying variable: people, role, workload, you name it]?"

You crave the moment when everything clicks, and you know. Ah, if only decision-making came with a GPS, right?

Here's the deal: sometimes, we choose to be confused. We're on a sit-and-spin of options, but instead of stopping, we have one more go.

Indecision isn't just uncomfortable—it's like wearing a scratchy sweater in a heatwave.

And yet.

And Yet...There is a comfort in indecision. It's not coastal grandmother cashmere-cozy but more like an old, familiar, slightly itchy sweater. It's the devil, you know, shielding you from making a decision that might backfire.

It’s fear, friends.?

Fear of regret, fear of the unknown, fear of feeling all the feels if things go south. We're so scared of potential future discomfort that we choose today's familiar unease.?

Decision-making is often as simple (and as complicated) as combining a committed thought with a determined action.

So what do you do? Here’s 5 steps.?

  • Ditch the "I Don't Know" Mentality: Break down your decision into manageable chunks. Ask yourself, "What if I did know what to do?" You'd be surprised at the answers you find.
  • Ask Empowering Questions: Shift from "How can I?" to "What can I do?" It's a game-changer in perspective and empowerment.
  • Acknowledge the Thought Trap: Realize that "I don't know what to do" is just a thought, not a fact. Replace it with "I'm figuring this out," and watch the confusion start to clear and your anxiety power down.
  • Make a Decision: You don't need all the facts or opinions. Decide what you want to think and feel, and let that guide your action.
  • Embrace the Freedom of Choice: Remember, there are no wrong decisions, only lessons learned. If you don't like where you end up, guess what? You get to choose again.

Stop letting today's discomfort win over tomorrow's possibilities. Get curious about your options, quiet the noise, and follow your curiosity.
