Your Successful Virtual Presence

Your Successful Virtual Presence

When the pandemic first hit, I was in the middle of creating corporate videos for a highly successful client. And just like that, they, like everyone else, had to put a lot of traditional projects on hold to "go virtual."  Overnight the executive team, each of them confident and polished public speakers, had to communicate virtually. And they needed to get good...FAST!  Their “Virtual Show” did not portray their true, confident, selves.  They struggled with where to look when they were talking, how much to say, and what energy to bring. It occurred to me at that moment that this was going to be a challenge for a lot of people even if they're terrific communicators in person. We have to deal with the anxiety of a global pandemic AND change the way we do business and present ourselves.  It’s a lot.  But the good news is that I can help you make that change and be great on camera.

What about you? Are you asking yourself some of these questions?

  • "Where do I look when the camera's on?"
  • "How do I make sure they're listening if I can't read their body language?"
  • “How do I stop saying the word "um"?”
  • "How do I have less of a monotone delivery?"
  • “I'm comfortable and confident with people in person, but how can I transfer that to the camera?”

These and other questions are a good start, and I've heard them all from clients. While new to some of you, these are things that I have dealt with over the years on television. And it can be difficult and embarrassing: from teleprompters not working (perhaps a slide deck freezing or technical difficulties with Zoom, BlueJeans, Teams, or Google Meet) to making a mistake LIVE that can't be erased, to being scared of being judged for how I sound or how I look (sound familiar?). And then the worst of all might be getting caught not listening during an interview because I was worried about what I was going to say next. Because of my mistakes, opportunities, and experiences, I have been able to incorporate proven strategies into a successful program that will have you answering all your questions!

It's time to take back control and create your home studio

Whatever your personal circumstances, you can set up a professional home studio. And you can achieve this without spending a lot of money. I have spent much of the past nine months coaching individual clients and companies through the maze of setting up home studios. From job interviews to business meetings to presentations to investor pitches, you will learn to be successful in creating unforgettable first impressions and maintaining a professional presence.

?Success is still relationship-based

We all are online for the foreseeable future, so some of the more casual approaches that may have worked at first will have to change.  Professionalism still matters! Strong connections are still important! I work with clients to figure out issues including, where to look, how to light yourself, what to wear, how to get rid of the filler words, and all the things needed for a successful on-camera presence. I will offer what I refer to as the Temple Touchstone - it's my uniquely designed report card. I audit lighting, shots, home studio, messaging, delivery, and camera confidence. When we are done, you will see that your stress has been replaced by confidence – and that leads to personal and professional success.

We certainly didn’t sign up for this virtual experience, and I understand how difficult it can be to come across as well on camera as you do in person. However, when you do make that leap – that transformation – you will feel secure and confident.  Selfishly, being a part of my clients' transformations is also a great pleasure for me!

I couldn't agree more with you Katy well. The work from home office is basically overnight become the norm for a large % of the workforce. As a business owner and soon to be Podcast host I've invested in basic technology to raise the Zoom experience for all my virtual meetings. It is not a huge investment BTW. Love what you do Katy
