Are you a Criticizer or an Advisor?
Sharing a small and nice story...
It was the launch of a brand new, luxurious, shiny and beautiful hotel, From the inside out, the hotel was very grand and beautiful. Money was lavishly spent on the design, construction, and furniture of that hotel.
Hundreds of people were invited to the hotel's opening ceremony. But cleaver Owner / Manager decided to use this inaugural event as an experiment.
According to him, as soon as he arrived at the hotel reception, One of the tiles in the design of the beautiful tiles on the very front wall, was deliberately set aside.
Now a journey started…
Every guest who came to the hotel was amazed at the beauty of the hotel. But as soon guests arrived, their attention was repeatedly drawn to the missing tile. Hundreds of people showed each other the missing tile, discussed it and asked the manager, do you want to install this tile? Why did it fall to the side. May be poor workmanship? Debate continued.
Hundreds of people also said that the beauty of the hotel has been tarnished due to this negligence of the hotel owner / manager( responsible).
When the Feedback from guests about how they felt when they came to the hotel.
Most of them wrote very briefly about the good things of the hotel, the interior, the landscaping and the expensive handicrafts And wrote extensively about MISSING TILES.
There were beautiful, attractive sculptures, one after the other, all over the hotel.
There were beautiful paintings to keep looking at, There were many walls with attractive with colors, According to Owner / Manager, two black spots were deliberately placed on a large white wall. In fact the stains were so small that they were not even one percent of the total wall size,
But like missing tiles, these stains also started getting people's attention. People enthusiastically showed each other the stains.
Some overzealous people just started to find faults in the construction, They started applauding each other and celebrating the shortcomings of the hotel and pointing fingers at Owner / Manager.
Finally, at the hotel's opening ceremony, Manager / Owner announced, that people should give their feedback in a prescribed feedback form / survey form.
And the result was shocking,
Despite the hundreds, thousands & thousands of splendid, marvelous things to praise in the hotel, most people mentioned MISSING TILES and STAINS in the feedback form & very little about the beauty of the hotel
Friends,
Is it your first priority or habit to look for finding out the shortcomings, to point out mistakes as soon as you see them, to name them, to shame them by pointing out at faults?
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO.......
But as we get older, we get into the habit of looking for shortcomings, shortcomings, shortcomings, shortcomings, & shortcomings, faults, mistakes… WE BURN GOOD AMOUT OF OUR OWN PRECIOUS ENERY.
Very often we point to the bad things in other people's family, lives, department, section, company & we discuss them and make a PERMANENT scratch on a beautiful marble flooring or make a still & clear water muddy forever.
So sometimes we spend our precious energy and precious time counting the problems, showing the mistakes, finding faults in an overall structure / organization / department / company / team.
“This is only known as “NEGATIVE ENERGY” & when it further aggravates, it turns into “CORROSIVE ENERGY ” . These energies are more dangerous than CORONA / COVID - 19. Remember these type of people are are habitual CRITICIZERS.
NEGATIVE or CORROSSIVE energy is clear “ NO GO “ in personal or professional life.
Hope you will like the above small story and your day & years ahead with “ POSITIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE ENERGY ” & Also remember we have to take our great organization or a family to next level of success.
The fact is that CHANGE advisors you will find more acceptable in personal & professional life, than CRITIZERS. Because CHAGNE advisors increase POSITIVE energy & criticizers force to generate NEGATIVE or CORROSSIVE energy.
Decide what you want to be? an ADVISOR or CRITICIZER?

4 年Rightly said sir. Your article is a wonderful story in its own way because you have highlighted a wonderful thought in very interesting way. I think you have deliberately spelled few words incorrectly to check whether people focus on the message highlighted here or how it has been written ??. I'll focus positively on your article as a wonderful construction which is far more important than the few wrongly spelled words. We all should try to find more positives than negatives. I'll carry this message throughout my life and try to be advisor than criticizer. Many times in my professional as well as personal life I happened to see some defects or problems but on second thought I always try to derive some positives be it from my subordinate, colleagues or Senior.

4 年Vinay there is another story where a sculptor makes a beautiful statue on a mountain. There is a small crack in the nose of the statue. He asks a passerby to look at the statue from the bottom of the mountain ( a good long distance) and tell him if he found any fault. The passerby only admired the statue and did not make any comment about the crack which he could obviously not see. The sculptor then told the passerby that this statue is defective and he will need to do it all over again because of the crack in the nose. The passerby said no one can see this and know one will know this fault. The sculptors response was that he knows it and hence his statue is not perfect. This criticism is to drive one to become perfect.
