Do you have a passion for art and culture? Are you curious about exploring social art projects in public spaces of Berlin and Buenos Aires? Do you believe in the power of collective efforts to strengthen identities and challenge societal stigmas? We welcome you to join our mission of reshaping collective imagination through artistic and cultural endeavors.

In a team of two, you explore innovative strategies for dynamically reshaping public spaces, drawing inspiration from the creative epicenter of Berlin, Germany, and channeling them to the streets of Isla Maciel, a neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

You embark on a collective mission for sic months, alongside a young member of the Community-Based Organization of Isla Maciel. Rest assured, you'll receive support from the V Social Foundation, situated in the heart of Berlin, and Engagement Global, bringing extensive experience in youth exchanges for development.

About the Community Based Museum, Isla Maciel:

Situated in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Asociación Civil Museo Comunitario Isla Maciel strives to strengthen the identity of the neighborhood Isla Maciel and dispel attached stigmas. Their activities focus on reducing poverty, bridging inequalities, and building connections within the community. One notable project is Pinto la Isla where the exteriors of houses in the neighborhood are adorned with art, intertwining the community's art, lifestyles, hopes, and expectations.

Your Role:

In Berlin, you will support V Social Foundation e.V. in:

  • Planning the project regarding core messaging, timelines, and financing.
  • Developing and presenting methods for the evaluation of the project.
  • Defining goals and conceptualizing their implementation in the second phase.
  • Researching concepts for developing collective identities in Europe and Latin America.
  • Exploring concepts for open-air museums.
  • Investigating inspiring examples of public space design by local initiatives and artist groups in Berlin.
  • Establishing potential collaborations between local groups/organizations in Berlin and Isla Maciel in Buenos Aires.

In Buenos Aires, you will assist the Asociación Civil Museo Comunitario Isla Maciel in:

  • Implementing the project.
  • Opening an open-air museum.
  • Networking within the community and with other institutions.
  • Compiling a report with information and results from the intercultural exchange.

Both project phases will be undertaken alongside a participant from Argentina.

Timeline:

  • Germany: Mid-April to End of July 2024 (in coordination with the partner institution).
  • Argentina: Mid-August to Mid-November 2024 (in coordination with the partner institution).

Requirements:

  • You have language skills in German and Spanish.
  • You are between 21 and 30 years old.
  • You are either pursuing a Bachelor's degree or have completed your Bachelor's degree within the last 18 months.
  • You are currently enrolled in a Master's program.
  • You have completed vocational training.
  • You either hold German citizenship or have your primary residence in Germany.
