Are you in control?

Are you in control?

Diabetes (types 1 and 2) is on the rise. Chances are you have it, or you are insulin-resistant or pre-diabetic, or someone in your immediate family has it, or someone you know has it. And type 2 is by no means restricted to adults - very young children are now being diagnosed with what was once referred to as 'adult-onset' diabetes. Likewise, adults are increasingly being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes although that is still more common in infants and children.

No longer a disease of predominantly rich nations, the prevalence of diabetes is steadily increasing everywhere, most markedly in the world’s middle-income countries, according to the World Health Organization. When diabetes is uncontrolled, it has dire consequences for health and well-being. In addition, diabetes and its complications impact harshly on the finances of individuals and their families, and the economies of nations. Globally in 2014, an estimated 422 million adults were had diabetes. In 2012 - the most recent year with data - there were 3.7 million deaths and almost half of them were before the age of 70 - so diabetes, which increases risk of heart disease, not only reduces your quality of life, it shortens it, all while creating a big financial burden. And remember, the first thing I said it it's on the rise around the world- these numbers keep doubling and tripling and more!

So my question to you is are YOU in control? Are you confident about your future? If not, want to know a better pain-free way to change that?

According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), most people with diabetes should aim for an A1C of less than 7%. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) sets goals that are even lower (less than 6.5%). This is because the risk of diabetes problems increases as A1C goes up. A1C measures how well your blood sugar has been controlled over the past 2 to 3 months. It also gives you an idea of how well your overall diabetes care plan is working.

The way PPG control works can be complicated, but the closer you get to your A1C goal, the bigger the effect PPG has on your A1C. PPG measures what your blood sugar is doing as a result of eating.

That's why it's nothing short of AH-MAZING that WOR(l)D Global Network and HEKA Corp are releasing the 4G app for non-invasive glucose monitoring to collect high density PPG without sticking your fingers!

Right now, even though people with type 2 diabetes know they should self-monitor their blood glucose more often for improved health results, they are afraid of the pain, they don't like the stigma associated with people watching them, they forget, and they only check when they don't feel well creating a negative association. So imagine what a HUGE help it will be to have a watch that monitors routinely so nobody has to know, you'll get information on trends - so not just "bad" numbers when you don't feel well, but motivating feedback to help you stay feeling well, and NO PAIN! And you'll have more data to provide to your doctor or care manager to improve communication and help you create a better care plan with your team. (Likewise, if you're in the medical community, this is an awesome new and effective tool for your patients!)

We are creating a movement! Are you ready to get on board, change your own life, and help change the lives of others when you share what we are doing? (And get paid for sharing!!!)

Too many people don't even know they are pre-diabetic and could head it off at the pass if they just had information to go on. Get involved for someone you love.
