Are You Content With Your Content?

I’m excited to jump into the next part of our series “The Social Selling Compass” and talk about creating, leveraging and engaging with content.

Content is one of those words (called a homonym) that can have more than one meaning.??

For our purposes here, the noun refers to the material we produce and curate and share on LinkedIn as well as other digital channels.??

The question I ask in the title refers to the adjective of being in a state of peaceful happiness.

So, are you content with your content??

Many salespeople and business owners aren’t.

I speak to sales leaders and business owners every week and when we talk about LinkedIn and using the platform to grow their business and create new revenue, the biggest challenge they have is with their content.??

The range of struggles goes from not having time to post, to not knowing what to post their level of consistency.

So in the next few weeks we’ll take a look at the types of content we can post on LinkedIn, how our network and the quality of our network helps or hinders our posting, as well as a few strategic ways to find content and leverage content to start conversations that can lead to sales.

For now, let’s talk about two of these challenges I just mentioned.

TIME TO POST/CONSISTENCY

Many times this challenge goes hand-in-hand with posting consistently.? Why?? Because if we only post sporadically, we have sporadic results and that leads us to believe that this ‘LinkedIn thing’ doesn’t work.? That attitude then leads to ‘what’s the point’ and we try to fit posting in around everything else and before we know it, we’re not posting anything.

"We don’t rise to the level of our goals, we fall to the level of our systems"

You need a system, as James Clear points out in the quote above from his book "Atomic Habits."

You probably don’t think you don’t have time because you don’t have a system in place to post regularly.

Did you know that you can schedule posts right on LinkedIn, without any additional software?

You can post up to 90 days into the future?

Watch the video below for a quick tutorial on how to schedule posts on LinkedIn on both the desktop and mobile version!

How to Schedule Posts on LinkedIn - Watch Video

Carving out 15-30 minutes once a week and you can create and schedule several days worth of posts.

This will help you with your consistency also.?

You don’t have to post everyday.??

But you should strive to create a system where you’re posting on a consistent basis, and your consistency isn’t going to look like anyone else's.??

What to post will be a whole article unto itself in a couple of week.

Next week, we’ll dive into the different types of content you can post on LinkedIn along with some of the technical details.

A solid reminder, Bill! This: If we only post sporadically, we have sporadic results - that is solid gold. Consistency in social is the crucial element that so many people overlook!
