Are you connecting the dots?

Are you connecting the dots?

Last year, I had an incredible opportunity to become a certified instructor on the Human Behavior Model or what some know as DISC.  The skills I have learned from it have been true game changers for me in my business.

My biggest thrill when teaching it, is seeing individuals connect the dots with what they are learning and the people they struggle with having an interaction with.  A few weeks ago, one of the attendees exclaimed in a very shocked voice “Oh my gosh, I get it!  I am going to lose my assistant!”

Now I have to admit that was not exactly where I thought she was going to go with her own revelation, but I found myself promptly her for more explanation in hopes that I didn’t just inspire her to fire someone.  You can imagine the big sigh of relief that whooshed out of me when she clarified it by sharing that she and her assistant had very opposite styles and her revelation was that she now knew she had been communicating in a way that was not only stressing her assistant out, but also making her less productive.

I was thrilled that she owned the issue and we briefly discussed a plan to make some fast changes in how she interacted with her assistant going forward.

During that 75 minute training session, I realized it wasn’t enough time.  If attendees could have those kinds of breakthroughs in that short of a time, how much further could they go with a deeper understanding of the principles?

By just asking 2 simple questions, you can redefine your approach to how you communicate with someone so that your message is heard the way it was meant to be conveyed.  The next time you are speaking with someone, ask "Are they more outgoing or reserved?" and "Are they relationship focused or task focused?"

With those 2 questions, you can adapt your communication style to build stronger relationships'

I have seen the transformation this information brings first hand.  Here are just a few things attendees of the shorter version have said about it:

“This event was a great learning experience not only about myself, but others as well.  Definitely worth going through and learning!” – Tessa H.

“This event was fun and intriguing.  Your brain was challenged and the team was united.  I learned how I can work better with my team at work.” – Teddy W.

“A great way to see how I fit in and can adapt to future situations.” – Alex P.

This is why I am so excited to announce a full day experience where we will take a deep dive into the concepts of understanding various personality styles and how to use that knowledge to build influence, reduce misunderstandings and decrease stress.

The DISC Advantage is about identifying patterns that will help you reduce stress, eliminate conflict and convey your thoughts and ideas in a way that build relationships and trust.

Because this workshop is such a rich dive into the DISC Model, I am only allowing a limited number of participants in the room.  The value of this workshop is $497.  When you take advantage of the Early Bird price ($197), you will also receive as a bonus, a ticket to L2L Cedar Valley (valued at $97), a simulcast that features thought leaders and experts in the field of leadership, communication, team building and more!
