Are You Confident Enough as an Entrepreneur?
This is the best quote I read today and it enkindled my heart to write. This quote exudes the confidence Beyonce has in herself. It is something so instantly inspiring.
Confidence is indispensable for entrepreneurs. It is one of the primary needs to believe in yourself to begin and sustain an entrepreneurial role.
While we all are obviously aware of the role of confidence, we all want to know what is the source of such unshakable confidence?
Most of the time, we feel that we need to embody some sort of perfection to be confident. Well, No! The most successful people do not claim to be perfect neither does Beyonce.
So, how to develop confidence as entrepreneurs? Here are some tried and tested tips.
Win in your mind first
I have adopted this learning while managing and scaling heights with ProofHub.
As a kid, I used to top all my classes and then I didn’t for some years. Now, when I look back at it, I see a pattern. All those years when I made it to the top, I used to visualize the result day on every day of school. I would visualize myself getting that trophy. This visualization filled me with the next level of faith. It told me I will do all that it takes to achieve that position.
But when this vision got blurred, my position also fell. Introspection lead me to learn an important lesson. When we visualize our win in the mind, we become more focussed, we get clarity and that leads to confidence. Another important lesson is to take some time every day to visualize your goals.
Be maniacal about your beliefs
We often tend to ask for third party validation regarding our missions in life. I am not saying that you will always be right in your beliefs. But, you should never drop your faith because others doubt your goals. Count on your learnings and thought process and adapt accordingly.
The best entrepreneurs have always been told that they are ‘crazy’ and that they should become ‘realistic’. But self-belief comes when you are maniacal about your beliefs. With faith in yourself, you can outshine the incumbents who have way more resources than you have.
Be enthusiastic
Winston Churchill said, “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
Confident entrepreneurs are not shaken by failures. They know that winning or losing is a part and parcel of life. But this kind of unshakable faith is learned by experience. All through my career, I have seen tough times and my wife would ask me what kept me relentlessly enthusiastic.
I told her that it is part of being successful. I used to feel devastated in the beginning but then I learned that three out of five businesses fail in our industry. Learn to fail fast and cheaply. Analyze your failures and understand what went wrong and how you can improve.
Conclusion
Nobody came here with everything figured out already. We are human beings and we are here to make mistakes and learn. The moment we start accepting our failure and carrying forward the lesson in the next ventures without losing confidence, we are bound to succeed sooner or later.
