Are you a Coffee Shop Squatter?

Are you a Coffee Shop Squatter?

We can all recall a time where we worked from the convenience of a coffee shop. All you have to do is buy a coffee for around $4 and settle in for the afternoon. You plug your laptop or device in to the shop's electricity, connect to their free (but generally unsecured) Wi-Fi and use their facilities as an office or meeting venue. It is a LIBERTY (pardon the pun) taken by many on a global scale and you can understand why - it's a commitment free, cost effective solution.

But being a Coffee Shop Squatter is not a strategy. It tells the world you have nowhere else to go, that you do not need to focus or be productive and that your business is so tenuous that you are not willing or able to invest in it. It makes you look temporary and in a business to business environment temporary is not a good look.

It is also a false economy because (in order to reduce your guilt - assuming you realise you are squatting) you may order a couple of coffees during your stay, you may even buy coffees for your guests in the meetings you decide to hold in their establishment. Before you know it you have spent $20-$30 for your half day in the "office" whilst portraying a poor image for you and your business.

There are times where coffee shop meetings are appropriate don't get me wrong, but a coffee shop should not be your real estate strategy if you want to succeed.

Introducing Hive by Liberty.

We have co-working space in the heart of Perth's CBD which can be yours for less than you would spend in an average couple of hours in a coffee shop. It provides you with a credible business address, space to work and focus between meetings and access to a community of entrepreneurs and business professionals to help grow your network - all for as little as $27 per day.

Oh, and you can help yourself to coffee, tea and chilled water throughout the day too!
