Trump’s former advisor, George Ross, once said, “Trump is not coachable.†And he’s right, not everyone is coachable. But what does this mean? What does it mean to be coachable?

Here are five key differences we’ve discovered between people who are “coachable†and “un-coachable.â€
#1 Coachable people are open-minded å¯æŒ‡å¯¼çš„
Being open-minded means that coachable people are willing to take in new ideas and suggestions. It doesn’t mean that they will act on any advice or have no values, it just means that they are aware that they don’t know everything. More importantly, they are extremely interested in improving their lives and developing their growth by listening to different opinions and perspectives.

#2 Coachable people respond well to feedback å¯æŽ¥å—
Even if it’s negative feedback, a coachable person can handle it well. When given constructive criticism, a coachable person listens carefully to learn from any mistakes and to see how they can improve in the future. They are not insistent on always being right because they know that they might not always be correct.

#3 Coachable people have self-awareness å¯æŒ‡å¯¼çš„
A coachable person doesn’t want to just learn from others or learn about others. A coachable person also takes time to learn about their own habits, weaknesses, strengths, motivations, and challenges. When we understand ourselves, we will be able to use our talents and get help from others where we need it so that we move forward effectively.

#4 Coachable people are courageous å¯æŒ‡å¯¼çš„
“The comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.†This quote rings very true, and a coachable person knows it. In order to grow, we need to have the courage to explore things outside our comfort zone. Exploring the unknown, or things that we’ve been avoiding, can be scary. But that’s what being courageous means - it’s when you continue to move forward despite facing fears.

#5 Coachable people take action å¯æŒ‡å¯¼çš„
This is likely the most important trait of being coachable. It doesn’t matter how well you handle feedback, how open-minded you are, or how much self-awareness you have if you can’t take action. A coachable person does not live in their imagination, wishing they could do this, thinking they should do that. They take concrete actions to materialize their knowledge and plans so that they continue to grow in reality, instead of just in their imagination.
ä¸ç®¡ä½ 有多么善于å¬ä»Žå馈,æ€æƒ³æœ‰å¤šä¹ˆå¼€æ”¾ï¼Œè‡ªæˆ‘æ„è¯†æœ‰å¤šå¼ºï¼Œå¦‚æžœä½ ä¸èƒ½ä»˜è¯¸è¡ŒåŠ¨ï¼Œé‚£éƒ½æ˜¯ç©ºè°ˆã€‚å¯æŒ‡å¯¼çš„人ä¸ä¼šåªæ˜¯ç©ºæƒ³ä»–们能åšçš„事情。
So, now that you’ve read this, do you think you are coachable? The truth is, many of us will likely be coachable, some more than others. But again, not everyone will be coachable. If you’re not coachable, you might not be able to relate to the items above - and that’s okay too; it’s not the end of the world! You can still change and grow and develop. Stay tuned for our next article on “How Can I Become More Coachable†next week!
