You Chose a Recruiter, But Is it the Right One?

Connecting B2B sales teams with key decision-makers in their target market, to deliver meaningful and authentic initial sales conversations to drive revenue growth for the business
Last week, our Mid-Week Pause focused on some of the key points on how to use a recruiter to find a great career opportunity. Using a recruiter to find a great career opportunity helps an individual to:
Saves time.
Helps to access more opportunities.
Focuses on specialist skills.
Helps through the job application process.
Wants to find you employment.
Provides access to a larger network.
This week lets focus on choosing the right recruiter for your next opportunity.
“You’ve picked a winner” … Choosing the right recruiter for you.
With all the different types of recruiters, how do you know you are working with the right ones? There are some obvious things to think about, like “do they have a job that interests me?” and “do they focus on the areas that I am interested in?”
Those are crucial question for sure, otherwise it is going to be a very short conversation with that recruiter.
However, there is a bit more to think about when choosing a recruiter to work with. None of this is revolutionary or rocket science and if done well by a great recruiter you will never even know it happened. But trust me, done badly by a bad recruiter and it can become downright awkward and embarrassing.

They listen –?Many mediocre recruiters tend to simply want to talk their clients and candidates. A great recruiter will come away from a conversation with you knowing exactly what you are looking for in a role or what you are looking for in a candidate.?
?
They communicate openly –?Because they have listened to you, a great recruiter is then able to communicate with the candidate or client in an open and honest manner. They don’t pretend to know everything and will confirm and clear up any uncertainty with the other party quickly and effectively. A great recruiter isn’t afraid to ask questions that a mediocre recruiter may not want to hear the answers to. They know that if a client or a candidate are not right for each other it is best to move on and preserve the two relationships rather than force something that isn’t there.
They get stuff done –?Because they have developed a great relationship with both their candidates and clients which is built on listening and open communication, a great recruiter is in a position to get stuff done. They know when a client can meet a candidate, they know what the candidates’ background is like for interviews.
With this said, a tandem of great recruiters in my network is Amy Israeli and Richie Lampani .

1 年Hi Jason, Thank you for posting this. I haven’t had a great experience with recruiters, so far. I’m sure there’s a high volume of people applying through them, but I have yet to have any reach out to me, despite contacting them directly.
