Do your pets have routines? How about your kids? I'm guessing there's a yes there.
What about you? Do you have routines for daily life?
Our bodies and minds have been developed over millenia to react to the earth's rhythms. Sunlight to darkness to sunlight. Season to season throughout the year.
And, because of this imprinting, your body has routines. Even though you may live in a high rise in a huge city your body's ancient rhythms are still there. That's your circadian rhythm.
Circadian rhythm refers to the natural physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a roughly 24-hour cycle, driven by an internal "biological clock" in the body.
These rhythms can affect sleep patterns, hormone production, eating habits, and other bodily functions.

The term "circadian" comes from the Latin words "circa" (around) and "diem" (day), which together mean "around a day."
Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist and professor at Stanford University who has studied the impact of light on the circadian rhythm. He tells us that morning sun helps set our body rhythms.
Morning light exposure helps to regulate your body's internal clock and the production of hormones such as melatonin, cortisol, and serotonin, which play important roles in regulating mood, energy, and sleep.
When sunlight hits the retina of your eye in the morning, it sends signals to the hypothalamus (a part of your brain) which in turn triggers the release of cortisol, helping to wake you up and increase your energy levels.
Sunlight in the morning helps to increase serotonin levels, which can help to improve your mood and reduce feelings of depression and anxiety.
All you need is 10-20 minutes of sunlight shortly after waking up. It's best if you're outside but you can stand by a window. The brighter the light, the more activation you get. (But don't look directly at the sun.)
Do your best to be a child of the sun in the morning.
All of these details have implications for feeling your best whether you're in the office or you WFH. Sometimes it takes contemporary science to get us back to our roots.
