Are You Chasing More Time or Better Moments?

Research shows that true happiness isn't found in having more time, but in making the most of the time we do have.

It's about quality over quantity, especially when it comes to spending time with loved ones.

And that’s the reason I’ve been lately away from all social networks: I’ve been on holidays with my parents at my sister’s home in Canada.

Home-based in Germany myself, not always my annual visits to Brazil, my homeland, coincides with my sister and her son visiting Brazil, and due to the 9 hours of time zone that sets us apart, it gets even more difficult to see my nephew as often as I wanted.

Then this year, my parents and another sister to go visit my youngest sister in Canada for her birthday, and this moment is registered in the picture of the banner of this article, in the top.

Take a moment to consider: how much time do you have left to spend with the people who matter most to you?

While none of us can predict the future, we can make a conscious effort to prioritize meaningful moments over mere minutes.

For instance, as my nephew is nearing 3 years old and considering a life expectancy of around 90 years, my parents, at almost 70, could potentially spend the next 17 years with him.

Estimation of how much time my nephew and I have left to spend with my parents.

Living far away from my parents myself, this realization serves as an important reminder to dedicate not just physical presence, but emotional presence when I visit them in Brazil, usually once a year.

And considering again the life expectancy of around 90 years, that would mean that I would still see them only 20 more times.

At the end of the day, what truly matters isn’t how much time we have, but how we make the most of the moments we share with those we love.
